Mutie Snippets, a distinct sub-species of Snippets, are an intriguing addition to the vibrant world of Banjo-Kazooie and are at the same time a boss in the world Clanker’s Cavern. These mutated creatures possess a distinct physical appearance, which is characterized by a green glow that envelops their entire body. Their distinct light green skin is complemented by a yellow underbelly and brown eyes that lend them a special and menacing look. Additionally, their left eye and right claw are much larger in size than their counterparts located on the right side, which adds to their distinctiveness. The four Mutie Snippets can be found in a green chamber behind Clanker, where a drum of toxic waste with several holes is situated. In addition, the light pouring from each of the holes provides a sense of foreboding and sets the tone for the battle ahead. Though these small mutated creatures may seem dangerous at first, they do not possess any special abilities, which would pose a significant threat to the player, besides their sturdiness that requires two strikes to defeat them. Once players defeat all four Mutie Snippets, they earn a well-deserved Jiggy, which is a coveted reward in Banjo-Kazooie. Interestingly, whenever players re-enter Clanker’s Cavern after leaving it, the Mutie Snippets reappear in the green chamber. However, they won’t provide any introduction or rewards upon reappearing, adding an element of continuity to the game.
» Battle Procedure
Upon entering the green chamber in Clanker’s Cavern, Banjo and Kazooie are confronted by the Mutie Snippets, who make their grand introduction. These small mutated creatures, which refer to themselves as Snippet Mutants, challenge players to a battle. Though the Mutie Snippets may appear threatening they do not possess any special abilities that would make them particularly dangerous, besides their robustness, which requires two strikes to defeat them. Their behavior is the same as classic Snippets which is walking around and chase players if they come too close to them. If players are looking to defeat the Mutie Snippets quickly and efficiently, they can seek out the help of Bottles in Clanker’s Cavern, who will teach them the powerful Wonderwing ability for Kazooie. The Wonderwing makes them invulnerable and allows them to defeat enemies with a single hit. However, if the player hasn’t yet acquired this powerful technique he can still perform Kazooie’s Beak Buster to take down the Mutie Snippets with ease. What sets the Mutie Snippets apart from other bosses in the game is that they do not regenerate their hit points, once players move too far away from the fight. As soon as all four Mutie Snippets have been vanquished, they will concede defeat and hand over a well-earned Jiggy to players, which can be found at the top of the pillar that is located in the center of the green chamber, surrounded by toxic water.
