Chilly Willy is a boss in Banjo-Tooie, who is a cyan dragon with an imposing presence and a long neck that towers over his comparatively tiny body. He is located at the top of the ice mountain on the Icy Side in Hailfire Peaks and is the brother of Chilli Billi, a red-skinned dragon who is located on the Lava Side. When players arrive on the Icy Side, Chilly Willy unleashes a fearsome roar and begins firing iceballs at them, effectively preventing them from exploring his domain. To avoid his attacks, Banjo and Kazooie must quickly seek refuge in an alcove or enter a nearby cave, such as the Icycle Grotto. However, this is not a permanent solution, and they must find a way to stop Chilly Willy from attacking them. The key to accomplishing this is to use his own iceballs against him, tricking him into firing them at the big Biggafoot, who is guarding the Claw Clamber Boots in an alcove. After that players must use the Claw Clamber Boots in order to climb up the wall next to a warp platform, which will take them to the top of the ice mountain, where they can confront Chilly Willy. Upon encountering the mighty dragon, he mistakenly assumes that they have come to deliver his twelve-foot Anchovy Deluxe, which he had ordered recently. However, Kazooie sets him straight, informing him that they are merely local Jiggy Hunters and do not have his pizza. In response, Chilly Willy declares that he will eat them instead. Once they successfully defeat Chilly Willy, he will take off and no longer pose a threat to Banjo and Kazooie in Hailfire Peaks, allowing them to continue their exploration for rare collectibles on the Icy Side without disturbances.
» Battle Procedure
During the battle, Chilly Willy will start shooting ice balls at players, dealing damage and sending them flying through the air. Also, Chilly Willy fires three times before taking a short break, only to start firing again in threes. Around the ice volcano there are several canons, which players must use to deal damage to him. By shooting Fire Eggs inside, the eggs will become empowered and land on him, inflicting massive damage. However, defeating him is not as simple as just firing Fire Eggs. After hitting him three times with Fire Eggs, all the cannons will sink into the ground, and he will switch to attacking players with his tongue. To avoid getting hit, players must time their jump to avoid getting damage. After a few seconds of the tongue attack, Chilly Willy will stop and start attacking again with shooting ice balls. Meanwhile, the cannon they used disappears, while the others around them rise from the ground. The process of firing the cannons and dodging attacks will continue until Chilly Willy’s health points reach zero. Also, each time a cannon vanishes after dealing enough damage to Chilly Willy, his attacks become faster, making it harder for players to avoid getting hit. Once Chilly Willy got defeated, he drops a reward and flies out of his ice pool to head towards McJiggy’s, a restaurant. In addition, Chilly Willy’s health points vary, depending on whether players have already defeated his brother Chilli Billi on the Fire Side. If players defeated him first, he will have six health points, and reward them with a Cheato Page instead. Overall, the battle with Chilly Willy is a real challenge and requires players to be really quick on their feet.
