Targitzan, the despotic and imposing totem god, is a boss featured in the game Banjo-Tooie. He resides in a temple at the heart of Mayahem Temple, where he guards two Jiggies behind locked doors, leading to his sacred chambers. To prove their worthiness and gain access to his temple players must first find Jamjars, who will teach them the Breegull Blaster. As soon as players have mastered the ancient art of bird handling, referred to as the Breegull Blaster, they are allowed to enter Targitzan’s Temple. Inside his temple, several green jade statues can be found, which serve as a requirement to enter one of his sacred chambers, depending on the number that Banjo and Kazooie have collected. If they have found at least ten of the green jade statues, they get access to Targitzan’s Slightly Sacred Chamber, which holds a Jiggy situated on a platform in the center of the room. If they have found twenty green jade statues inside his temple, they have access to Targitzan’s Really Sacred Chamber, where they can find another Jiggy. However, beware, as the latter turns out to be a trap, once the player enters his Really Sacred Chamber. In Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, Targitzan makes another appearance, this time in the form of a statue located in the Kickball Stadium of the game’s third world, Banjoland. Standing on the button in front of the golden statue will cause him to rise from the ground and shoot a football out of his mouth, while the number of footballs he shoots out is determined by how long players stand on the button. He is used in a Jiggy-Challenge of Mr. Fit, where players have to score goals to win the challenge.
» Battle Procedure
During the battle against Targitzan, the Totem God will summon four additional segments, each featuring red and yellow colored targets and faces resembling Targitzan. The battle commences with Targitzan and his segments spinning in various directions. To defeat him, players must strike the targets of the current segment at least four times, either with Kazooie’s Beak Bayonet ability learnt from Jamjars in Glitter Gulch Mine, or by firing eggs at them. However, each of Targitzan’s segments, except the first one, features Targitzan-like faces that will launch a red arrow at Banjo and Kazooie when they look in Banjo and Kazooie’s direction. As soon as the current segment of Targitzan is destroyed, he’ll summon Moggies to disrupt the players. The Moggies will chase the players and must be defeated to make Targitzan spin again and face his next segment. As more segments are destroyed, the number of faces increases by one, making the battle progressively more difficult. After Targitzan’s final segment is destroyed, he initiates his sacred self-destruction exploding and firing arrows in a circular pattern. However, before Targitzan starts his sacred self destruction, players must defeat all four Moggies, that have spawned. To avoid getting hit by an arrow, the best strategy is to hide behind one of the four stone walls found in each corner of the sacred chamber. Surviving Targitzan’s self-destruction will reward players with another Jiggy left behind by the Totem God’s remnants. In addition, it’s vital to note that Targitzan’s attack pattern may change after defeating all Moggies. This means, players must pay attention to the direction of his spin when he and his segments start to spin again, as it can be to the left or right side.
