Tiptup

Tiptup, a character originally from Project Dream, is a green turtle first encountered in the world Bubblegloop Swamp in the game Banjo-Kazooie. He is the conductor of his own choir of singing turtles inside Tanktup and rewards Banjo and Kazooie with a valuable Jiggy if they successfully complete Tiptup’s challenge. Despite being able to re-enter Tanktup at any time, Tiptup and his choir disappear when they exit after finishing the challenge. In Banjo-Tooie, Tiptup returns with a surprisingly higher voice. He can be located in Jolly Roger’s Lagoon where he is showcased as a tourist attraction in Turtle View Cave. Although his choir class is nowhere to be seen, he is joined by a small pink egg containing his unborn son, so he hopes, given that he reportedly already has nineteen daughters. Unfortunately, the egg is long overdue in hatching, and Tiptup is powerless to assist, thus requiring Kazooie’s aid. Kazooie has to use the Split-up Pads in the town center to hatch the pink egg. Once the eggshell is cracked open the baby turtle frees himself but falls over onto his back, requiring Kazooie to right him up by attacking in any form. Tiptup and his son, later called Tiptup Jr., leave for the ocean after everything is said and done, but not without leaving a Jiggy for Kazooie. Tiptup is also featured in the game Banjo-Pilot in Clanker’s River. Even though Tiptup is regarded as a character in the Banjo-Kazooie series he initially appeared with Banjo as a racer in Diddy Kong Racing, released a few months before Banjo-Kazooie. He made another appearance in Diddy Kong Racing DS, though some fans believe that the Tiptup in the Nintendo DS version is actually Tiptup Jr. It is worth noting that Tiptup is the only Rare-exclusive character to remain in Diddy Kong Racing DS, likely because he was a minor character along with Banjo.

QUOTES

Quiet please. The famous Tiptup Choir will now perform my latest work.

We’ll see, copy what you just heard for lesson one.

Oh, that’s much better! I found this buried in the sand – it’s yours!

I’m a reptile, not a bird. He’s supposed to get out himself.

That’s not funny. Please help him!
