Alph

Alph, also referred to as Alien Dad, is a notable character from the Banjo-Kazooie series. He is a member of an extraterrestrial species and resides within a spacecraft alongside his companions Beti, Gammo, and his three offspring, Alphette, Betette, and Gamette. As Alph’s name suggests he is named after the first letter of the Greek alphabet, which is called Alpha. In Banjo-Tooie, Alph and his companions Beti and Gammo are encountered by Banjo and Kazooie in the fourth world Jolly Roger’s Lagoon. They explain that their spacecraft crashed into the depths of Atlantis and their fuel source, crystallized ice, has been depleted, rendering them stranded. To aid the aliens in their escape, Kazooie must use Ice Eggs to power up all four crystals of the UFO within a given time limit. Once powered, the aliens depart to the Icy Side of Hailfire Peaks where their offspring have landed, leaving a golden Jiggy behind as a token of gratitude. Upon arriving in the Icy Side of Hailfire Peaks, Alph exits the spacecraft to observe the surroundings, but unfortunately falls to his death. Fortunately, the pink shaman, Mumbo Jumbo, is able to revive him by using his magic on the nearby Mumbo Pad. Furthermore, Alph informs the protagonists about the whereabouts of his offspring and requests their assistance in rescuing them. Using his alien signal, Alph shows Banjo and Kazooie the spot of his children, who have been scattered across the world, and asks them to retrieve his children. Once all three of his offspring have been rescued, Alph prepares to carry out his plan to exterminate all Earthlings for taking too long. However, as he can not locate his laser, he ultimately decides to spare them and leaves another rare Jiggy as a reward before departing from Earth. In Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, Alph and his family are briefly mentioned in the third world Banjoland, where an Infopost details their involvement in Banjo-Tooie and the role of their spacecraft. Additionally, some frozen extraterrestrial characters appear in the Terrarium of Terror, but it’s unclear if they’re the same aliens as those encountered in Banjo-Tooie or not.
