Mingella Winkybunion

Mingella Winkybunion, also called Mingy, is a character in the Banjo-Kazooie franchise and one of the secondary antagonists in Banjo-Tooie. She is the sister of the witch Gruntilda Winkybunion and is described as tall, gaunt and very thin in contrast to her sister Blobbelda Winkybunion who is overweight. Mingella, along with her sister and Klungo, are on a mission to revive Gruntilda and help her seek revenge against Banjo and Kazooie. Mingella Winkybunion’s wears a low-cut navy blue dress and has a pink bob cut. She has a large, thin nose and crooked yellow teeth. Gruntilda refers to her as her gorgeous, slim sister during the Tower of Tragedy Quiz. Furthermore, Mingella is depicted as being cryptic in her speech and often uses anastrophe, a type of speech involving an inversion of a language’s ordinary order of words, similar to Yoda from Star Wars. Sometimes Mingella speaks in rhyme once, while telling Klungo not to mock Gruntilda’s sisters. She and her sister Blobbelda are also shown to be technologically gifted, having created several destructive weapons such as the B.O.B. and Hag One. Mingella plays a significant role in freeing the wicked witch Gruntilda from beneath a boulder at the beginning of Banjo-Tooie. She carries a spellbook which she uses to unite her powers with Blobbelda to revive Gruntilda Winkybunion. After freeing her, Gruntilda is really concerned about her deteriorating body, but her sister Mingella shallowly compliments her weight. They then proceed to wreak havoc and introduce B.O.B, a life-draining machine they created, which they use to drain the life force from others. She and Blobbelda are not seen until the Tower of Tragedy Quiz, where they compete with Gruntilda Winkybunion. Both sisters are killed by Gruntilda for failing to win a round via a dropped weight. Upon the conclusion of Banjo-Kazooie Grunty’s Revenge, Grunty’s spectral entity, after being vanquished once again by Banjo and Kazooie atop her tower, repossesses her lifeless body that remains buried under a colossal boulder. She commands Klungo to gather her sisters, Mingella and Blobbelda, to assist him in removing the heavy boulder. Utilizing the remains of the defeated Mecha-Grunty, Mingella and Blobbelda fashion the Hag One, a destructive machine used to breach Spiral Mountain and initiate the events of Banjo-Tooie. In conclusion, Mingella is a key character in the Banjo-Kazooie franchise, whose cryptic speech, technological aptitude, and physical appearance embody the archetype of the witch, while her role in freeing Gruntilda contribute to the plot of Banjo-Tooie.
