Nimbo

Nimbo, a massive cloud residing in the post-expansion world of Tribalstack Tropics atop Nimbo’s Mountain, made his first debut appearance in the popular video game Yooka-Laylee. The name Nimbo is inspired by the nimbus cloud, a type of cloud that produces precipitation. His distinctive appearance includes a white body, blue eyes with black pupils and a big mouth. When angered or producing precipitation, Nimbo’s appearance becomes a darker shade of gray. As a result of the stress caused by his wife leaving him for a typhoon, Nimbo requires the assistance of Yooka and Laylee in passing water. In return for their help, he can change the current water state of the Tribalstack Canals. The inability to pass water may allude to urinary retention, which is a medical condition characterized by the difficulty of urination caused by blockage or stress. He expresses his anxiety and stress, stating that he has been in knots ever since his wife left him, and it may be the underlying cause of Nimbo’s urinary problems. He has the unique ability to change the stats that affect the environment such as the Tribalstack Canals, which enables Yooka and Laylee to compete against Nimble another time and earn a rare Pagie, if the river is frozen. If Yooka uses a Splashberry, Nimbo will cause water to precipitate into the pond below. The water from the pond will empty into a dried riverbed in Tribalstack Tropics, revealing an entirely new section for Yooka and Laylee to explore. There are no other uses for the water form of the canal other than it being a step for the ice version and an optional way to retrieve the Play Coin. In Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, using the Splashberry next to him has no effect. If Yooka uses a Frostberry, it will cause him to precipitate snow into the pond. The snow from the pond will empty into the riverbed in Tribalstack Tropics, creating a more challenging race against Nimble. In Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, using the Frostberry on Nimbo switches Chapter twelve to Buzzsaw Falls Frozen and Chapter thirteen to Cliffside Quest Cold. Finally, if Yooka uses a Scorchberry, he’ll evaporate all the water or snow from the pond and Tribalstack Canals. In Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, a Scorchberry results in the lake melting switching Chapter twelve and thirteen back to their original forms. Nimbo’s capabilities and the effects of using different berries are just some of the intriguing gameplay elements that make Yooka-Laylee an exciting game for fans worldwide.
