Yooka-Replaylee is the definitive remastered and enhanced version of Yooka-Laylee, the beloved 3D indie platforming collectathon from 2017, developed by Playtonic Games. The original Yooka-Laylee, which started as Project Ukulele, was a spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie series, crafted by key talent from Rareware. Its successful Kickstarter campaign raised over two million pounds, generating considerable excitement among fans, particularly after a teaser featured two characters hidden in a bush in the game’s opening world, Tribalstack Tropics. Eventually, these characters were revealed to be Yooka, the green chameleon, and Laylee, the purple bat. While Yooka-Laylee was praised for recapturing the charm and nostalgia of classic 3D platformers, it received mixed reviews on Metacritic, with some critics celebrating its visual appeal, engaging gameplay mechanics, and charming atmosphere, while others criticized its unoriginal design, comparing it unfavorably to the Banjo-Kazooie series. Now, Yooka-Replaylee seeks to improve upon the original with a host of enhancements and new features. With stunning remastered graphics, a fully orchestrated soundtrack, and an array of customisation options, the favorite buddy-duo, Yooka and Laylee, have never moved, looked, or sounded better. The remake introduces new remixed challenges alongside old favorites, allowing players to explore expansive, beautifully designed open worlds once again. This time, there’s even a map to guide players, a shiny new currency to collect, and much more, bringing fresh life to the adventure while maintaining the heart of what made the original special.
