Yooka-Replaylee Announced

Yooka-Laylee, the beloved spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie created by former Rare developers, is getting a surprise remaster for PC and consoles. Revealed during today’s Guerrilla Collective presentation, Yooka-Replaylee promises to be the definitive version of the 2017 indie platformer that revived the 3D collectathon genre. This remaster goes beyond a simple visual upgrade, featuring numerous gameplay improvements, including a new world map, refined character movement, better camera controls, and a remixed orchestral score by renowned composers Grant Kirkhope and David Wise. The adventure follows the lovable duo, Yooka and Laylee, as they once again take on the corporate villain Capital B, who’s trying to turn the world’s books into cash. With updated challenges, a fresh currency system, and more customization options, players will explore vast, colorful worlds brimming with quirky characters and plenty of collectibles. Playtonic Games describes this remaster as the culmination of almost 10 years of Playtonic experience, hinting at even more to come for the franchise. While no release date has been confirmed, there’s speculation about whether the game will land on the Nintendo Switch, as Playtonic has remained tight-lipped about its platform plans. With rumors of a Switch successor on the horizon, it’s possible Yooka-Replaylee could debut on the next Nintendo system. For now, fans can look forward to an enhanced and polished version of the original, with the buddy-duo looking, moving, and sounding better than ever.
