Mumbo Crates

Mumbo Crates, denoted by Mumbo Jumbo’s skull on their sides, are small pink boxes scattered throughout various locations in the hub world Showdown Town in the game Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. These special Mumbo Crates hold valuable parts that can be used to enhance Banjo and Kazooie’s in-game vehicles. While some of these vehicle parts are common, others are rare and can only be found in the harder-to-locate crates. Some of these crates are accompanied by ghostly characters of deceased pigs that eagerly anticipate the fabled sirens call. To release these restless spirits, you must first obtain a Kazooie-like Horn by defeating Gruntilda in the Terrarium of Terror. Once obtained, the horn can be used to dispel the ghosts and gain access to the contents of the crate. In addition to these standard Mumbo Crates, there are also special crates known as Stop ‘N’ Swop Crates. These crates can be found in Showdown Town once you have collected the necessary items in the Xbox Live Arcade version of Banjo-Kazooie. These crates are color-coded according to the item found and contain unique novelty parts such as Fuzzy Dice. Only one of each of these items exists in the game, with the exception of the flag, which can be obtained twice. While the game does offer hints about the location of these crates, they are typically more difficult to find and require careful consideration. It’s worth noting that there are certain parts that cannot be obtained through normal gameplay and are strictly used for challenges. These items include Grunty’s Dingpot vehicle seat, the three spheres in Critics Say No, Pikelet’s police seat in A Sight for Poor Eyes, and the torch in The Jiggosseum Torch.
