Gobi’s Valley

650px GobisValleyBanner

This dry and arid place known as Gobi’s Valley is the sixth world players can explore in the game Banjo-Kazooie, and it can be accessed through Gruntilda’s Lair. Gobi’s Valley is designed with an Egyptian theme and features burning deserts, creating an environment that is as challenging as it is impressive. As players enter the world, they’ll come across Trunker, a dried-up palm tree who is in dire need of water. The world is filled with difficult obstacles such as hot sand that can cause damage to players. To progress in this world, players must solve various puzzles and challenges that are spread throughout the pyramid structures. Furthermore, they are designed to be tricky and will test the player’s abilities to their limits. Successfully solving these challenges will reward players with Jiggies or access to new sections, where they’ll find even more demanding puzzles to solve, like memory games and traps. At the center of Gobi’s Valley lies King Sandybutt’s Tomb which is a massive pyramid that players must first reveal by shooting Blue Eggs inside the mouth of the sphinx statues that surround the pillar. Once inside the tomb, players will face a maze-like structure and must race to reach the exit before the spikes on the wall will hit the ground. Failure to do so will cause them to lose all of their health points and restart the level. Bottles, the friendly mole, can also be found in Gobi’s Valley and will teach Banjo and Kazooie the last ability they will need to complete the game, which is the use of Turbo Trainers. To enter the world, players must first complete the picture of Gobi’s Valley, which requires nine Jiggies. The puzzle is hidden in the lava room inside Gruntilda’s Head in the Cobweb Room. It’s worth noting that Gobi’s Valley does not feature Mumbo Jumbo’s Skull, which means players cannot use his services in this world.

» Stop 'n' Swop in Gobi's Valley

In the Banjo-Kazooie franchise, players can uncover a special and mysterious feature known as Stop ‘n’ Swop. This special feature involves six different colored mystery eggs and a large ice key that unlocks various rewards for players in sequel games, including the games Banjo-Tooie and Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. Typically, these mystery eggs and the key cannot be found by the player, unless a specific code is entered inside the Sandcastle of Treasure Trove Cove. It can be challenging to enter the correct code, due to its length and one single mistake means the player must start over again from the beginning. Also, it’s worth noting that while entering these codes the platforms on the ground will not change color or play any tune, after players used Kazooie’s Beak Buster. One of the codes that can be entered is related to Gobi’s Valley, while entering the code correct, will open an ancient door of a tomb that can be found in an alcove behind Jinxy. It is possible that players may have noticed the door of the ancient tomb before as Mumbo Jumbo shows a short sequence at the end of the game after finding a one-hundred Jiggies. Once inside the ancient tomb, players will need to follow the small tunnel to the end in order to find a golden sarcophagus with a switch in front of it, located on the ground. Standing on the switch and using Kazooie’s Beak Buster will open the golden sarcophagus and reveal the blue mystery egg.
