Cheato Codes

650px CheatoCodes Banner

In the world of Banjo-Kazooie, players can encounter a special character in the game known as Cheato, a huge red magical book. Cheato provides codes to players that can make their journey through the game much easier. These codes come in the form of words or sometimes sentences and must be entered at specific locations, such as the Sandcastle in Treasure Trove or the Code Chamber in Mayahem Temple. Also, players can obtain these codes by interacting with Cheato or hatching Stop ‘n’ Swop eggs, while others can be found through the internet. Once the codes have been obtained, players can activate them at specific locations in the games. This can help players unlock certain doors, such as world entrances, or remove obstacles that are preventing them from progressing in the game. However, players should be careful not to overuse obstacle codes in Banjo-Kazooie, as doing so can result in a warning from the villainous Gruntilda. Also, if players continue to enter obstacle codes despite her warning, she will use a powerful magic that deletes the game file, while disabling the auto-save function in the game. It’s vital to note that all codes entered in the Sandcastle will remain activated and can not be undone. In Banjo-Tooie, a new feature was added to the game, which allows players to turn off codes by interacting with a stone sign inside the Code Chamber in Mayahem Temple. This can be useful if players no longer need the codes, or want to challenge themselves by playing without the codes assistance.

» Cheato Codes in Banjo-Kazooie

In Banjo-Kazooie, players are able to encounter Cheato up to three times throughout Gruntilda’s Lair, each time providing them with a special code to make their journey through the game more manageable. The first hiding spot of Cheato can be found concealed in a small tunnel adjacent to Freezeezy Peak’s puzzle, and can only be accessed by using Bubblegloop Swamp’s crocodile transformation. However, before players can enter the small tunnel, they have to first destroy the ice cube obstructing the entrance, which can be achieved by using Banjo and Kazooie’s attack abilities. Upon entering the tunnel, players will find Cheato, who rewards them with the Blueeggs code. In order to find Cheato’s second hiding spot, players must venture down a path within the Lava Room located near the lobby of Mad Monster Mansion. Next to Brentilda there’s a tiny hole in the wall that can only be accessed by utilizing the pumpkin transformation from Mad Monster Mansion. Here, players will receive the second code known as Redfeathers. Finally, to obtain the last code, players have to raise the water to level three and quickly reach the alcove adjacent to the purple pipe in the lobby of Rusty Bucket Bay, before the timer hits zero. To raise the water to level three, two switches must be pressed simultaneously. The first one can be found in the room opposite of the Rusty Bucket Bay lobby, while the second switch is inside a coffin of the wracked shack situated behind the entrance door of Mad Monster Mansion. Upon successfully raising the water level and reaching the high-located alcove in the Rusty Bucket Bay lobby, players will find Cheato one last time, who rewards them with the Goldfeathers code. Also, it’s worth noting that Cheato’s codes can significantly aid players by unlocking new sections, removing obstacles, and allowing them to collect items of Stop ‘n’ Swop. However players should take care not to overuse obstacle codes, as excessive use can result in a warning from the villainous Gruntilda. If players continue to enter obstacle codes despite her warning, they risk losing their game file, as she will utilize a powerful magic spell to delete their entire progress and disable the auto-save function in the game. Therefore, players should use these codes with prudence and make the most of their benefits, but also ensure they do not detract from the game’s challenges and gameplay.

» Cheato Codes in Banjo-Tooie

In Banjo-Tooie, players have the chance to come across the red book Cheato, who can be found within Gruntilda’s Lair. However, due to Gruntilda’s destructive actions, Gruntilda’s Lair has been left in shambles. This means that players have to use a Flight Pad within Spiral Mountain or climb up the broken wooden bridge, to access the area where Cheato resides. Upon meeting Cheato for the first time, players are informed that he is willing to offer help but unfortunately, the wicked witch has torn out all of his pages. As a result, he requests players to find all of his lost pages and return them to him. In return for every five pages that are brought back, Cheato offers one of his valuable codes. These codes can be entered inside the Code Chamber found in the Jade Snake Grove of Mayahem Temple. The chamber becomes accessible once Mumbo Jumbo’s magic has been used on the Golden Goliath to kick open the door blocking the passage. An alternative way of opening the stone door is by using Grenade Eggs, which can be acquired in the Pine Grove of the game’s hub world. To activate a code, players must first spell out the word Cheato and then enter the respective code backward by shooting eggs at the letters. By interacting with the sign located on the right side, players can either toggle cheats on or off. In the re-released version of Banjo-Tooie, Jamjars cautions players that activating a code will disable the auto-save function and also prevents them from uploading any achieved scores to the game’s leaderboards.

» Cheato Codes in Banjo-Pilot

In previous games, Cheato played a pivotal role by offering players codes to unlock obstacles or modify the gameplay. However, Cheato takes in this game on a new role as a shopkeeper, where players can access a wealth of new content, including characters, battle tracks, and other items all by using the in-game currency Cheato Pages. To earn these pages, players must participate in races, to receive pages based on their performance and final race placement. The game also features five Musical Notes on each track, increasing the total amount of Cheato Pages earned at the end of a race. One particularly unique item available in Cheato’s Shop is the Stop ‘n’ Swop function, which is priced at a steep 999 pages. Upon purchase, players are met with a humorous response from Cheato, who tells them to stop bothering him and instead read a good book while taking all of the Cheato Pages the player has paid for. While Banjo-Pilot does not feature a story like its predecessors, players can assume that Cheato lost all of his pages, and it’s up to them to retrieve all pages by participating in races and purchasing items from the shop. The introduction of Cheato’s Shop adds an extra layer of depth to Banjo-Pilot’s engaging mechanics. The game’s use of Cheato Pages as a form of currency creates for all players a fun and rewarding gameplay experience as they are incentivized to perfect their racing skills in order to earn more pages and unlock more content. Also, the inclusion of a high-priced item such as the Stop ‘n’ Swop function adds a fun and challenging element to the game, and showcases Rare’s signature humor.
