Grunty Industries, the sprawling and giant factory that belches out toxic fumes and pollutes the surrounding worlds, is the sixth world in Banjo-Tooie. Located in the Quagmire of Isle O’ Hags, it is a forbidding place, surrounded by a toxic purple swamp that can harm unwary adventurers. The entrance is secured by a massive gate that requires a switch to be pressed in order to get inside the factory. The switch is located outside the factory and once activated, it opens the gate to the Train Station, which is inside the building. From there players have to take Old King Coal’s Chuffy to get inside the building. Once inside Grunty Industries, players must navigate a maze of rooms and passages, using the Split Up Pads to separate Banjo and Kazooie, allowing them to activate two switches simultaneously and open the main entrance of the factory. Along the way, players can seek out Jamjars, who will teach them new abilities to help them on their journey. These abilities include Banjo’s Snooze Pack, which allows him to sleep and regain health points, Leg Spring, which enables him to jump higher, and the Claw Clamber Boots, which are necessary to access the upper floors of the factory. On the first floor of the factory, players will find Humba Wumba, who can transform Banjo and Kazooie into a washing machine, allowing them to access previously unreachable areas. They can also use the washing machine to clean the uniforms of the six Skivvies, earning themselves a valuable Jiggy. On the third floor, players will find Mumbo’s Skull, which can be used to disable generators, granting access to areas like Clinker’s Cavern and the Repair Depot. To gain access to Grunty Industries, players must first collect twenty-eight Jiggies and complete the puzzle challenge in Jiggywiggy’s Temple. It is only then that they can brave the hazardous landscape surrounding the factory and enter its forbidding doors. Once inside, they will face numerous challenges and obstacles as they seek to navigate its complex interior and uncover its secrets.

» Shortcuts in Grunty Industries

Grunty Industries doesn’t feature any real shortcuts that would lead the player to another world of the game. However, it’s possible to enter some pipes, where the player can either find a switch at the end or a rare collectible like a Jiggy. As soon as a pipe got entered the background music changes to the basement version of Grunty Industries, while the entire environment is changing as well. In Jolly Roger’s Lagoon, the player can find the first pipe and is located above the pool of Piggles and Trotty. To get inside, he must learn the Bill Drill technique from Jamjars in the game’s second world Glitter Gulch Mine and use it on the loose platform that is on the top side of the big pipe. Inside the pipe, there is a switch at the end that the player can press with Kazooie’s Beak Buster technique to stop the pipe from polluting the water of the pool, and is one of two required steps to get the Jiggy from Piggles and Trotty. The second pipe is located in Hailfire Peaks on the Icy Side and can be entered once the player has learnt Banjo’s Shack Pack technique. It allows him to squeeze inside a small hole of the yellow crane’s pipe and enter the Waste Disposal Plant that is located in the basement of Grunty Industries. By continue following the pipe the player will find a Jiggy at the end, which he could see before behind a window but couldn’t pick up.

JIGGIES

Jiggy #01: In the Boiler Room that is located in the third floor, there is a door beneath the two boilers that requires a Bazza Superlife Battery. Find and insert one to provide electricity and enter the Packing Room, where you have to score forty points in a minigame to get a Jiggy.

Jiggy #02: Use the Split Up Pads to become Banjo and enter the Trash Compactor located in the Main Room next to a Skivvy. Once inside, use Banjo’s Snooze Pack technique to refill your energy between the smashers, allowing you to reach the switch at the end and free a Jiggy.

Jiggy #03: For this Jiggy enter the Cable Room and jump across the cables to get inside the Quality Control room, where you must destroy blue barrels by using Grenade Eggs. The more barrels you hit the faster the conveyor belt will move, while hitting enough earns you a Jiggy.

Jiggy #04: To obtain this Jiggy, make all your way up to the fourth floor and pass the crushers to enter a pipe, leading to the sewers. Once you enter the door inside the sewers, a timer will start with two-hundred seconds, where you must destroy twenty Clinkers to receive a Jiggy.

Jiggy #05: Outside the factory, fly all the way up by using one of the Flight Pads and enter the right warehouse on the roof. Once inside, use the Split Up Pads to switch over to Kazooie and head back to the warehouse’s rooftop to use the Shock Spring Pad and pick up this Jiggy.

Jiggy #06: Use the Split Up Pads in front of the elevator and head outside as Kazooie, where you must shatter the window above the entrance by using Grenade Eggs. Now use Kazooie’s Glide to get inside, where you can earn a Jiggy by defeating all six Tintops on the platform.

Jiggy #07: In Grunty Industries there are a total of six Skivvies, while each of them wears dirty clothes. Because of that, you have to head over to Humba’s Wigwam and transform the Duo into a washing machine to give their suits a quick wash, while the last one will drop a Jiggy.

Jiggy #08: In order to get this Jiggy you have to defeat Weldar in the basement, causing the giant rotating propeller in the Air Conditioning Plant to stop spinning. Once done, walk across to find a small opening that allows you to get behind the propeller and snatch a golden Jiggy.

Jiggy #09: Once the giant rotating propeller stopped spinning after defeating Weldar you are able to enter the new area of the Waste Disposal Plant. Head over and use the Split Up Pads to become Banjo and perform his Shack Pack to walk into the toxic pool and get the Jiggy.

Jiggy #10: The last Jiggy can be found in the Toxic Waste Disposal, where Banjo’s Sack Pack technique is required. Use the Split Up Pads on the ground to become Banjo and hop across the toxic pool by using the Sack Pack, where you have to press a switch to free the last Jiggy.

Glowbo #02: As soon as you come up from the second floor, you can already see this Glowbo on the top of some paper boxes. To reach him, you can either make all your way up and drop down to his box or use a more efficient way by shooting up one of Kazooie’s Clockwork Eggs.

JINJOS

Jinjo #01: To find the first Jinjo of Grunty Industries, you must enter Jolly Roger’s Lagoon and head over to the Smuggler’s Cavern. Once there, perform Kazooie’s Talon Torpedo and use it on her silhouette, allowing you to swim down the pipe where you can find and grab the Jinjo.

Jinjo #02: After learning Kazooie’s Leg Spring technique enter the Toxic Waste Room and use the Split Up Pads on the central platform. Now switch over to Kazooie and look for a pipe that leads to a wall with a Jinjo in an alcove, which you can reach with Kazooie’s Leg Spring.

Jinjo #04: Use the Flight Pads outside of the factory and fly up to the left smokestack that is patched up with a few loose boards. Simply remove them by using Grenade Eggs and enter the opening to plop down inside the Boiler Room, where you must walk out to find the Jinjo.

Jinjo #05: To find the last Jinjo of Grunty Industries, you must use the Flight Pads outside the factory and make it into the window of the left warehouse that is located on the top. As soon as you’re inside the warehouse, the world’s last Jinjo can be found sitting near the ground.

CHEATO PAGES

Cheato Page #01: Outside the factory, a switch can be found behind a wall that activates the Flight Pads. Use the pad near the switch and right above the wall you can see a transparent window that you must shatter by using eggs, allowing you to enter it and grab the first page.

Cheato Page #02: In the first floor, go down the stairs that is located near the service elevator to find the Worker’s Quarters. Now head left and use the Grenade Eggs to blast open the iron door to the Men’s Restroom, where you must use the Bill Drill on Loggo to reveal the page.

Cheato Page #03: To get the world’s last Cheato page, you must defeat Weldar in the Repair Depot, causing the pipe above the room to stop spinning. Once done, climb up the ladder to reach the entrance door and walk on the pipe over to the platform to find a Cheato page.
