Bottles Moving Picture Game

Banjo-Kazooie contains a hidden mini-game called Bottles’ Moving Picture Game, tucked away inside Banjo’s house in Spiral Mountain. To unlock this activity, you must first obtain the Jiggy located in the Sandcastle of Treasure Trove Cove. Access the mini-game by standing on the green carpet in front of the fireplace in Banjo’s blue house and using the first-person camera to look at Bottles’ portrait. This initiates a conversation where Bottles reveals you’ve found his secret moving picture game. As you complete each challenge, he rewards you with a special code that can be entered in the Sandcastle of Treasure Trove Cove. These unique codes provide amusing cosmetic changes to Banjo and Kazooie, which can be reversed by entering the NOBONUS code or simply reloading your save file. The challenges progressively increase in difficulty, featuring additional misplaced pieces while maintaining a time limit of 90 seconds. After beating all initial challenges, you receive a special code from Bottles that transforms Banjo and Kazooie into a washing machine. Players of the Xbox 360 version should note an important consideration. While this version added the feature of permanently retaining collected Musical Notes even after leaving a world, some players encountered a critical bug where certain Notes would disappear after interacting with Bottles’ portrait. Although a patch addressed this issue, it’s still advisable to collect all Musical Notes before engaging with Bottles portrait to avoid potential problems.

» Procedure of the Minigame

When you interact with Bottles’ portrait above the fireplace, a puzzle frame appears showing an area from one of the game’s worlds. This image then breaks into twenty jigsaw pieces that scatter around the blue frame’s edge. You control Banjo’s hand to grab pieces by pressing the A button, with the aim of completing the puzzle within 90 seconds. This mini-game bears similarities to Master Jiggywiggy’s Puzzle Challenge from Banjo-Tooie, which players can find in Jiggywiggy’s Temple when completing puzzles to unlock new world doors in the Isle O’ Hags. After completing all six initial challenges, Bottles awards you the BIGBOTTLESBONUS code and mentions he has no more challenges left for Banjo and Kazooie. However, this proves to be a joke. If you return to the carpet and look at his portrait again using first-person view, Bottles reveals he has prepared one final challenge. This test uses the same puzzle format but with increased difficulty. Now you must not only place them in their correct positions but also rotate them properly. You can pick up a piece and use the C buttons to rotate it, as most pieces have been incorrectly oriented.
