Brrreeze Blok is a boss in the first game Yooka-Laylee, who can be found in the game’s second world, Glitterglaze Glacier. With a large mane made of pure ice, two large eyebrows, and purple glowing eyes, Brrreeze Blok has an intimidating appearance. His cold, narcissistic, and egotistic demeanor is evident as he invades Burnie, a supportive character that is a burning furnace, and refuses to leave, calling his short time inside Burnie the furnace, a reign of terror. Brrreeze Blok’s name is a clever play-on-words that consists of the words Breeze Block and brr and refers to the onomatopoeia of shivering in the cold environment. It accurately describes the boss’s icy nature which is a significant hurdle that players must overcome. In order to locate him players must first leave the Grand Tome and expand it by using a certain amount of Pagies. After that, he is sitting inside Burnie found in the Icymetric Palace, preventing the furnace from igniting his fire. Players must first interact with Burnie, who will explain the current situation and ask Yooka and Laylee to enter his mouth in order to figure out the problem. Once players locate Brrreeze Blok on the wall they have to use the nearby Scorchberries Bush to melt him thereby defeating him. Successfully defeating him is not as challenging as defeating other bosses in the game. However players who emerge victorious will be rewarded with the Knocking Down Walls achievement, which is one of the thirty-five achievements in Yooka-Laylee, along with a valuable Pagie. This will mark players with a significant accomplishment allowing them to continue exploring the secrets of Glitterglaze Glacier. » Battle Procedure
During the battle with Brrreeze Blok players are faced with a boss that doesn’t utilize any special attacks to take them by surprise. Instead he simply moves around constantly on the wall, making it more challenging for players to deal damage to him. Eventually, Brrreeze Blok will stop moving and prepare to launch an attack, unleashing multiple small ice balls at Yooka and Laylee before resuming his pattern once again. Also, the size of Brrreeze Blok will determine his movement and attack speed, with smaller sizes resulting in increased speed. To defeat him, players can use two options. The first one is to use the Slurp Shot ability to consume the nearby Scorchberries, which will allow Yooka to spew fire at Brrreeze Blok and gradually melt him. The second one is available if players have acquired Laylee’s Sonar Splosion ability from Trowzer located in the game’s third world, Moodymaze Marsh. This ability enables players to break the four ice cubes inside the wall where Brrreeze Blok moves, revealing four torches. However, the flame on them isn’t permanent and requires players to relight them, after being extinguished. By using the Scorchberries nearby to light these torches, players are able to melt Brrreeze Blok even faster until he becomes finally defeated. Overall, defeating the boss Brrreeze Blok isn’t a difficult task, but more like a test of the player’s strategic ability and effective utilization of the various tools that are available.
