Butterfly Extender

The Butterfly Extender is a unique and valuable collectible that is featured in Yooka-Laylee. This special item has a distinct appearance, with a pink crystalline heart-shaped butterfly, complete with two crystal wings and two antennae, accented with a purple colored trim. When Yooka and Laylee collect a Butterfly Extender their maximum butterfly energy is increased by one, allowing them to take one additional hit. This means that players can increase their maximum amount of health by six more butterfly energy points, making them really tough. A Butterfly Extender can be found in each world within the Grand Tomes, often hidden in hard-to-reach places. Players must explore every nook and cranny of each world to discover these valuable collectibles. In addition players can also find a Butterfly Extender in the world Shipwreck Creek located outside of Hivory Towers. Collecting all Butterfly Extenders will increase the maximum health of Yooka and Laylee to twelve butterfly points. This offers players an increased advantage and allows them to take on tougher opponents and challenges in the game. After collecting five Pagies players can unlock a new Play-Tonic by Vendi, called Wellard. This special Tonic can be equipped, granting Yooka and Laylee an additional energy point, increasing the maximum possible amount of Butterfly Energy that the protagonists can have to thirteen. Interestingly, the Butterfly Extenders are similar to the Extra Honeycombs from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. However, unlike the Extra Honeycombs players only need to find one Butterfly Extender to increase their health. In addition the collection sound is reminiscent of the fanfare that plays when players complete Grunty’s Furnace Fun.
