Motzand is a friendly ghost who resides in the Haunted Church located in Mad Monster Mansion in the game Banjo-Kazooie. As the duo, Banjo and Kazooie, climb up to the organ’s music stand Motzand greets them with a series of rhyming sentences, resembling the speech of the game’s antagonist Gruntilda Winkybunion. Despite the spooky ambiance of the place, Motzand can not harm players and presents them with a musical challenge instead. Motzand’s challenge involves playing two songs on the organ which is accompanied by a melancholic melody. The first song is a short one with a few notes while the second one is more tricky and lengthy. Players have to use their musical abilities to correctly replicate the tunes that Motzand plays by performing the Beak Buster ability on the organ keys. If successful, Motzand rewards them with a Jiggy and the organ music changes to a happier song, signaling their completion. The Jiggy that Motzand offers as a reward is found on the tallest pipe on top of the church organ, and is a valuable prize for players who successfully complete the challenge. However, if the protagonists Beak Bust the wrong key on the organ, they will receive damage, losing one honeycomb health. Therefore, it is best to pay close attention to Motzand’s tunes and play with caution rather than randomly hitting keys on his organ. To assist players who may be unsure of which organ key to press next during the musical challenge, it is recommended to step away from the organ and then return. This action prompts Motzand to replay the notes for Banjo and Kazooie, while prompting players with the opportunity to carefully observe and correctly replicate the tunes. Although Motzand is a minor character in the game, his presence adds a unique and memorable touch to the spooky atmosphere of Mad Monster Mansion. Furthermore, Motzand’s challenge also serves as a fun and engaging activity for players, allowing them to test their musical skills and earn a Jiggy after being successful.
