Conga is a boss and at the same time a supportive character in the game Banjo-Kazooie, known for his commanding presence and rugged personality. He can be found in the game’s first world Mumbo’s Mountain, where the protagonists must surmount his tricky terrain and appropriate an orange from his tree in order to advance. Once in possession of the fruit, players must present it to Chimpy, who perches on a tree stump. For their efforts, players are awarded a coveted golden Jiggy and the stump is raised, granting access to the high-located tree stumps scattered along the wall. Defeating Conga requires players to consult with Bottles by interacting with his molehill which allows them to acquire Kazooie’s Blue Eggs. With this newfound skill, players can proceed to the stump on the left side to find Conga and inflict damage to him. When hit, Conga responds with anger and instantly throws an orange at the player, which can be avoided with a well-timed jump. After two successful hits, Conga becomes a little more challenging, throwing two oranges consecutively, which players must dodge before landing the third strike. Once hit three times, he surrenders and drops his Jiggy as a reward. However, players must remain cautious as Conga soon resumes throwing oranges. In addition to the two Jiggies, a third Jiggy can be obtained by standing on each of the orange platforms that surround his orange tree. To achieve this, players must stand on a switch and move away before the orange hits them. Tricking Conga into hitting all the switches with oranges reveals the Jiggy. In conclusion, Conga’s section in Banjo-Kazooie presents a pivotal challenge, offering players the chance to learn Kazooie’s Blue Eggs ability for game progression. In addition, with a good strategy and perfect timing, players can triumph over Conga with ease and reap the rewards of three Jiggies in the world Mumbo’s Mountain.

» Conga in Banjo-Tooie

In the sequel game Banjo-Tooie, the character Conga makes a reappearance and can be found within the game’s third world, Witchyworld. However, unlike his previous iteration, he is no longer a rival to the protagonists, but rather a friendly acquaintance, addressing them as buddy. In this game, Conga has been assigned the role of gatekeeper, stationed at the entrance inside the Big Top. To gain access to this highly anticipated section, players must first find four tickets that are scattered throughout Witchyworld. However, obtaining them is no easy feat without knowing the correct way, as players must defeat the Fruities, also known as killer slot-machine monsters, that surround the Big Top. It’s important to note that standard attacks will not work on the Fruities, so players must use either Grenade or Clockwork Eggs, Kazooie’s Bill Drill or the van transformation from Humba Wumba in order to defeat them. As soon as the players have successfully collected all four tickets, they can then return to Conga and present them. However, he reveals that there is still a second requirement that Banjo and Kazooie must fulfill, before they can fully access the Big Top. He explains that they must first learn the Airborne Egg Aiming from Jamjars, which he’ll teach behind the Big Top. To acquire the move, players must collect enough Musical Notes in the game or else Jamjars will retreat back in his molehill. After successfully acquiring the move from Jamjars, players can finally return to Conga to present him the required tickets and demonstrate their newfound ability. Conga will then open the door to the Big Top and run off, disappearing for the remainder of the game, while Banjo and Kazooie enter to challenge Mr. Patch for a Jiggy.
