Dilberta

Dilberta the Rat, a charming rodent character, made her first appearance in Banjo-Tooie, where she is known to be a dear friend of the prospector, known as Bullion Bill. She can be found in the Prison Compound of the game’s first world Mayahem Temple, an area that is only accessible to players who have used Mumbo Jumbo’s Magic to summon the mighty Golden Goliath and open the stone door. Upon arriving in the Prison Compound, Banjo and Kazooie discover that Dilberta is imprisoned, and they set out to rescue her. The players must remove a rock blocking Dilberta’s path back to Bullion Bill in Glitter Gulch Mine. However, the entrance to her location is obstructed by a locked door that can only be opened by entering a code sequence of three switches on the ground, each of which bears the symbol of the sun, moon and star. Typically, Banjo and Kazooie must first use Humba’s transformation service in Mayahem Temple to become a Stony, allowing them to communicate with other fellow Stonies. In the Prison Compound there is a Stony who will reveal the correct code for her prison, which is star, sun, star, moon and moon. After opening the door, Banjo and Kazooie must stand on the rock inside the prison and perform Kazooie’s Bill Drill ability to demolish it and free a tunnel leading to the Prospector’s Hut in the second world Glitter Gulch Mine. The prospector, Bullion Bill, is overjoyed to be reunited with Dilberta and rewards the protagonists with a shiny Jiggy for their efforts. Dilberta’s name is inspired by an Asian elephant named Dilberta Geeta, who was alive during the development of the video game Banjo-Tooie.
