Flight is one of the most exciting and useful abilities in the Banjo-Kazooie series. Bottles teaches Banjo and Kazooie how to fly atop The Salty Hippo found in Treasure Trove Cove, and it remains a highly anticipated technique for players, especially for Kazooie when she first learns to take to the skies. The ability to fly in the air provides many advantages, such as reaching high-up places with ease and soaring over obstacles and collectibles on the ground. To take off, simply stand on a Flight Pad and press the A button, and then use the Control Stick to steer left and right, as well as dive and slow down to land. In order to gain altitude, press the A button, but bear in mind that using this ability consumes a Red Feather each time. In Banjo-Tooie, the R button can be held to make sharper turns while flying. Moreover, while flying players can use the Beak Buster ability by pressing the Z button, which can be used as a quick type of landing. However, caution should be taken when utilizing this ability from too high, as it can damage the duo. Additionally, players can use the Beak Bomb attack by pressing the B button, an aerial missile-like attack that also costs a Red Feather for each use. In Banjo-Tooie, Jamjars teaches Kazooie how to shoot eggs while in flight with the C up button and Z button. Despite this new feature flying remains virtually identical and just as useful as in Banjo-Kazooie. Additionally, it is possible to fly in first-person mode even before learning the Airborne Egg Aiming technique. Flight Pads, also known as Fly Pads or Flying Discs, are round blue-colored discs with pictures of Red Feathers on them, which allow Kazooie to take off into the air. These blue pads provide players with a bit of sneakiness, as just taking off requires nothing but the pad, allowing the protagonists for a short distance of flying even without Red Feathers. Interestingly they can be found in every world in Banjo-Kazooie, with the exception of Spiral Mountain, Mumbo’s Mountain and Bubblegloop Swamp. In Banjo-Tooie the only places where Flight Pads cannot be found are the Isle O’ Hags, Glitter Gulch Mine, Jolly Roger’s Lagoon and Cauldron Keep. Overall, the ability to fly is a game-changer, providing players with new ways to explore and uncover secrets in the Banjo-Kazooie franchise. Flight Pad is a key component of the ability, allowing players to take to the skies and explore the world from a new perspective.
