Gnawty, the beaver residing inside the tree of Click Clock Wood, is a character in the video game Banjo-Kazooie, who has troubles in getting into his house. In the spring season, Gnawty tells the protagonists that a rock in front of his house is preventing him from getting in. Despite their best efforts, they can not destroy the rock due to the water level. During the summer, Banjo can finally break the rock by using Kazooie’s Beak Buster ability, making Gnawty to run back into his house inside the giant tree. However, the drought makes it impossible for Banjo and Kazooie to swim up to Gnawty’s house, while the steep slope also prevents Kazooie’s Talon Trot ability from being of any use. In autumn, the water level rises, allowing them to swim into Gnawty’s house and collect the coveted Jiggy that lies in front of him. The winter season brings new challenges as the pond is frozen over. Banjo and Kazooie must swim through the one hole in the ice to get into Gnawty’s house and retrieve an Extra Honeycomb. However, the freezing temperature causes them to use up air twice as fast whenever they dive below the surface or under the ice. If the protagonists fail to help Gnawty in the summer season, he still remains trapped outside his house, trying to find a way to get into his lovely house. In autumn season, he longs to be inside his house, but the water still prevents Banjo and Kazooie from breaking the rock. Finally, in winter, he is trapped beneath the frozen pond and blames them for not helping him earlier. Players who forget to get the Jiggy in autumn can still retrieve it in winter season, but Gnawty will express his worry that he wanted it when he was still stuck outside. In conclusion, Gnawty’s predicament in Banjo-Kazooie presents players with a challenging puzzle that requires them to use their problem-solving skills in order to help the beaver get into his house. The changing seasons and unique obstacles in each season add an extra layer of complexity, making the mission even more rewarding when completed.
