Gobi is a supportive character in the Banjo-Kazooie franchise, first making his appearance in the titular game and later returning in the sequel. He’s a species of camel to his own world known as Gobi’s Valley, where he can be found wandering through the sandy terrain. In the valley, near the Memory-Puzzle Pyramid, there is a flying carpet that takes players to an island where Banjo and Kazooie free Gobi from his confinement and are rewarded with a Jiggy. Gobi runs off to Trunker’s shade, where the protagonists use their Beak Bust technique to help water a thirsty tree named Trunker. However, this act annoys Gobi, who moves over to the alcove that is next to Jinxy in front of the door leading to the Blue Mystery Egg. Here, Banjo and Kazooie again flatten his humps to obtain an Extra Honeycomb Piece, much to Gobi’s dismay. Feeling upset, Gobi leaves the world and isn’t seen again until the next game. In Banjo-Tooie, he is found imprisoned in Witchyworld’s Cave of Horrors in a cage marked as Ancient Bearded Camel. Once freed, Gobi moves to Hailfire Peaks at the Fire Side’s Train Station. However, his last store of water is once again used by bear and bird to cool down Chuffy’s boiler, which allows them travel to the Icy Side. In this game, Gobi is seen with a long white beard, and a discussion before his freedom as Banjo alone reveals that he was given the beard as an attempt to boost his popularity, but it had no effect. In Banjo-Pilot Gobi makes a cameo appearance in Gobi’s Valley track where he can be seen running along the sidelines. Though Gobi was confirmed for Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, he does not physically appear in the game. However he does make an appearance as two of Lord of Game’s pre-made vehicles, including LOG Gobi and LOG Aqua Gobi. His character has been a memorable addition to the series and is known for his grumpiness and tendency to move from place to place. Fans of the games have grown to love his unique appearances, eagerly awaiting his next appearance.
