Groggy is a supporting character in the Banjo-Kazooie series, first introduced in the video game Banjo-Kazooie along with his children, Soggy and Moggy. He is distinguishable from his brothers by his green jacket and baseball cap. In the first game, the three children are disappointed when their father Boggy forgets to give them any presents. Banjo and Kazooie then set out on a quest to find three presents for the children scattered throughout the fifth world Freezeezy Peak. Once they’ve brought all three siblings a present, they are rewarded with a golden Jiggy. In the sequel game, Banjo-Tooie, Groggy makes a return, but this time he has significantly grown in size due to his overeating habits. He struggles with mobility and can be found in Witchyworld. Despite his full appearance, he begs the protagonists for a burger, and after eating it, he becomes bloated, and Banjo must carry him over to his mother, Mrs. Boggy, using his Taxi Pack. She is displeased that her son has eaten before dinner and uses her pink purse to beat him. Also, if Banjo and Kazooie refuse to feed him, Groggy becomes hostile, refusing to return to his mother until he receives the burger. Later in the world Hailfire Peaks on the Icy Side, Groggy expresses his gratitude to Banjo for the burger but mentions that he actually needs to use the bathroom but his size prevents him from moving. Although the three siblings, Groggy, Soggy and Moggy were intended to appear in Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, the game’s development constraints prevented their inclusion. The proposed Jiggy-Challenge for their appearance was to be named Don’t Bring Your Kids to Work Day. Despite not appearing in the game, Groggy and his siblings remain well-known characters in the franchise, known for their distinct personalities, but also for their amusing dialogue.
