Dr. Quack’s Quack-Fire Quiz

Banner artwork coming soon

Dr. Quack’s Quack-Fire Quiz is a series of three game-show checkpoints in Yooka-Laylee’s Hivory Towers. Capital B’s scientist halts Yooka and Laylee’s progress and makes them cross a bridge of ten hexagonal spaces by answering questions about the adventure. Correct answers advance the pair, quick correct answers move them farther and mistakes use up the three lives allowed for that attempt. The questions mix character and world facts with pictures and information about the player’s own save, so a fixed answer list alone cannot solve every prompt. The first quiz opens the route toward Glitterglaze Glacier, the second lies between Moodymaze Marsh and Capital Cashino, and the third guards the approach to Capital B. This guide covers those original-game checkpoints, the answers that change with your progress and the written and picture questions documented across their pools. It applies to Yooka-Laylee rather than assuming the same rules or question bank for Yooka-Replaylee.

Crossing the Quiz Bridge

Enter the quiz chamber and listen to Dr. Quack’s instructions before starting across the honeycomb bridge. Each question offers three choices and a short countdown. A correct answer advances one space; a correct answer within the first five seconds earns a two-space advance. That makes five quick successes enough to cross ten spaces, while slower answers require more questions. An incorrect answer removes one of your three quiz lives, and losing all three restarts the attempt from the beginning of that checkpoint. Watch the actual button prompts for your platform rather than treating an answer’s screen position as fixed. Read carefully before selecting: the bonus is useful only when the answer is also correct.

Preparing the Answers That Change

Before entering a chamber, open the pause menu and check the collected Quill total, total Pagies, Pagies found specifically in Hivory Towers, health-extender count and current playtime. Also remember the first Ghost Writer caught in Tribalstack Tropics and the first move purchased from Trowzer. These are facts about your own run, not Brentilda-style randomized secrets, so a different route through the same game can produce different correct choices. A guide that gives three hub Pagies or zero health extenders is describing its author’s route. Record the values shown in your save and read whether Dr. Quack asks for a worldwide total or the hub alone. The free first move and the first paid move are separate questions, as are collected extenders and current health.

Quiz One: Beyond Tribalstack Tropics

The first compulsory checkpoint is reached from the room containing Capital B’s large gold statue in Hivory Towers. After exploring Tribalstack Tropics, use the red floating platform beside the statue to reach the walkway behind it. Climb that walkway, jumping and rolling where required, until you reach the upper door and its floor switch. Buddy Slam the switch to open the entrance to Dr. Quack’s chamber. The pool covers Shipwreck Creek, the early hub and Tribalstack Tropics, including the ship’s mast, Knights of Hamalot, Rampo, Nimble, Rextro and Dr. Puzz. Pictures can show Tribalstack landmarks or Clara. After crossing the bridge, continue into the next hub room and find Trowzer on the raised platforms opposite the ice-activated switch near Vendi. His free Glide lesson lets you cross the gap behind him and continue toward Glitterglaze Glacier, whose opening costs three Pagies. Winning this first quiz also unlocks Quackers on platforms with achievements or trophies.

Quiz Two: Beyond Moodymaze Marsh

The second chamber is reached from the Waterworks side of the hub after the Moodymaze Marsh section of the adventure. Lizard Lash is required for the route; Trowzer sells it for 60 Quills in Moodymaze Marsh. Back in Hivory Towers, cross the log outside the marsh entrance, use the Lash points to reach the ledge and drop to the gate switch. Open that shortcut, then enter the quiz doorway behind you. The pool adds Glitterglaze Glacier and Moodymaze Marsh, including the snowmen, Clara’s pot, the Snowplough, trolley characters and Buddy Bubble. After crossing, follow the outdoor metal walkways toward Trowzer near the blue security-lit passage. His free Camo Cloak lesson lets the pair bypass that security and continue toward Capital Cashino. Use the move again at the next security gate to reach its floor switch, then approach the Grand Tome. Opening Capital Cashino costs ten Pagies, separately from winning the quiz.

Quiz Three: Capital B’s Office

The last checkpoint is reached through the door behind the two gold statues near the Galleon Galaxy Grand Tome. The office approach requires 100 collected Pagies, a progression threshold distinct from Galleon Galaxy’s twelve-Pagie opening cost. Review the Capital Cashino and Galleon Galaxy facts before entering, along with the totals in your save. This pool can also reuse earlier general and picture questions, so keep the preceding answers available. Its new questions include all five Grand Tome worlds and deliberately flattering claims about Capital B, Dr. Quack and Hivory Towers. Give the answer the quiz expects even when its claim is obvious company propaganda. Crossing the bridge clears the last quiz barrier; continue through the exit and interact with the central platform after the office scene to follow Capital B toward the battle.

Reading the Question Pools

The groups below collect the documented written questions by the checkpoint where their subject matter becomes relevant. General hub, arcade and progress questions can recur, so do not assume that an answer listed under a later group can never appear earlier. Each prompt has been shortened for lookup, while the answer preserves the name or number needed in the game. Opening a Grand Tome and expanding it cost different numbers of Pagies. Likewise, an absent arcade game and a real minigame are opposite kinds of question. Pay attention to those distinctions before selecting the most familiar-looking choice.

Personal Progress Questions

Use the following rows whenever a question refers to what you collected, bought or did first. There is no single numeric answer for every player. Quills and Pagies spent on progression do not make a walkthrough’s example totals a reliable substitute for checking the collected totals recorded in the game. If you lose a quiz and gather more items before trying again, refresh your notes. Playtime also continues to change, so an old screenshot of your statistics may no longer match the answer choices.

SAVE AND PROGRESS ANSWERS

How many Pagies have you collected in Hivory Towers?

Use the Hivory Towers Pagie total in your own pause-menu statistics. This is the hub total, not all Pagies across every world.

How many Quills have you collected in total?

Use your collected Quill total. Check the statistics before entering; a walkthrough’s 1,010 assumes every Quill has been collected and is not a universal answer.

How many Pagies have you collected in total?

Use your global collected Pagie total. The maximum of 145 is correct only for a completed collection, not for every player reaching the last quiz.

How many Butterfly Boosters have you collected?

Count the health-extender items recorded in your save. This is not the number of butterflies currently filling your health meter.

Which Ghost Writer did you capture first in Tribalstack Tropics?

Choose the color of the first one you actually caught. Yellow is a common walkthrough route, not a forced answer.

Which move did you purchase first from Trowzer?

Choose your first purchased move: Slurp Shot, Buddy Slam or Sonar Shot. The free Tail Twirl lesson is a different question.

What was the first move Trowzer taught you?

Tail Twirl, the free opening lesson. The word “taught” distinguishes this from the first move you purchased.

How long have you been playing?

Match the playtime recorded for your save. Check it immediately before entering and choose the offered value that matches your own progress.

Picture Questions

Dr. Quack can display a view of a place or a character instead of asking an ordinary written fact. Identify the subject from its scenery, silhouette and recognizable features, then select its name. A generic request to name a picture does not have a universal answer; use the actual image currently shown in the quiz. The descriptions below distinguish the documented subjects by checkpoint, including room-level answers such as Under the Palace and world-level answers such as Glitterglaze Glacier. The two are not interchangeable when the game offers a specific location.

Company Questions and Tricky Wording

Several late questions reward Dr. Quack’s preferred sales pitch rather than an independent judgment. Choose Incredible Capital B for the proposed fight, Amazing Capital B and Dr. Quack for the best duo, and Hivory Towers for the best corporation. Questions about Rextro’s shoes use the absence of shoes as the answer. The original quiz’s Vendi answer is sixteen Tonics, even though the number you have unlocked is a different statistic and later releases may offer different extras. When a prompt asks what Trowzer claims to have named after himself, the accepted response is currency. These are fixed quiz answers and should not be replaced by a player’s opinion or a modern count of the franchise’s features.

Finishing the Quizzes

Each successful crossing opens its checkpoint’s exit and allows the pair to continue exploring the hub. The three quizzes are separate attempts, so losing lives at a later checkpoint does not require replaying the earlier ones. Quackers requires completion of one quiz, while reaching Capital B through the normal story route requires passing all three. Prepare your answers before starting to reduce the number of questions needed, but prioritize correctness when a question asks about an unfamiliar picture or a personal statistic. After the third crossing, continue toward the office and prepare for the boss rather than expecting another general-knowledge round.
