I.N.E.P.T. is a colossal robot boss, making his first debut in the first game Yooka-Laylee, where he can be found in the fourth world, Capital Cashino. As the security guard for the rails of the Kartos Challenge, I.N.E.P.T. is known for his strict and unforgiving demeanor. Despite his impressive size and strength, I.N.E.P.T.’s poor hearing and eyesight often leads him to misinterpret statements as insults, making him quick to anger. With a sadistic streak, I.N.E.P.T. takes pleasure in laughing at Yooka and Laylee when they fail to dodge his relentless attacks, such as missiles or spike bombs that he will use during his battle. The boss fight commences when Kartos breaks a casino rule by offering a Pagie as a reward to the protagonists for collecting enough gems and completing the challenge. Furthermore, I.N.E.P.T.’s body is made up of bronze and black metal, while his orange rolly-wheels allow him to glide effortlessly on the rails located above Capital Cashino’s fountain in the center of the world. Also, his distinctive feature is his bright green glowing eyes which adds to his imposing presence. It’s noticeable that I.N.E.P.T.’s head resembles Xbox’s Kinect, giving him a futuristic and intimidating appearance. Finally, the battle is an intense one, requiring players to use all their skills to defeat this massive menacing robot. After defeating I.N.E.P.T., players will be rewarded with the Obsolete achievement, one of the thirty-five achievements in the game, along with a Pagie after his detonation. This will mark players with a significant accomplishment in the game, allowing them to continue exploring Capital Cashino and finding all of its collectibles.
» Battle Procedure
During the confrontation with I.N.E.P.T., players will encounter him on the tracks surrounding the fountain in Capital Cashino. The battle is divided into three phases, each presenting a unique set of challenges for the players to overcome. In the first phase, I.N.E.P.T. drops spiky mines that can cause significant damage to the protagonists. To avoid getting hurt, players must carefully time their movements and either jump over these spiky mines or use Karto’s cannon in order to blast them away. Additionally, they have to watch out for I.N.E.P.T.’s flashing red eyes, which signal that he is about to charge at the protagonists. To deal damage on I.N.E.P.T. during this phase, players must fire Karto’s cannon after the third flash, failing which, they’ll lose a butterfly from Yooka and Laylee’s energy bar. The second phase poses more challenges to players, as I.N.E.P.T. becomes increasingly aggressive and repeatedly charges at them. Players must stay alert and look for an opening to shoot I.N.E.P.T. while also being prepared to jump over him. Additionally, a strike from behind does count as long as I.N.E.P.T. was charging from behind the protagonists. Players must also remain cautious when I.N.E.P.T. is low on health, as he may try to fake them out by flashing twice and moving closer before flashing a third time. To avoid getting hit in this situation, players have to be careful not to jump too early, hitting the brakes instead. In the last phase he becomes more challenging, firing several missiles at the protagonists. Players must pay close attention to I.N.E.P.T.’s missile patterns and either use the brake or boost to avoid getting hurt. Alternatively players can wait for the missiles to come back towards them and jump over them, causing them to hit I.N.E.P.T. instead. Players must repeat this action until I.N.E.P.T. is defeated, rewarding them with a Pagie. Overall, the battle against I.N.E.P.T. is a challenging encounter, which tests the skills and reflexes of players, but with planning and precise execution, they can emerge victorious.
