The Squid Form is a special and useful transformation that can be used by Banjo and Kazooie in Banjo-Kazooie Grunty’s Revenge. Found in the fourth world, known as Spiller’s Harbor, this form is bestowed upon them by the pink shaman, Mumbo Jumbo, after they defeat Mecha-Gruntilda by using the Warp Platform near the lighthouse to obtain her Mumbo Token. With this token, they can use the Squid Form, which allows them to transform into a pink-skinned squid while wearing Banjo’s blue backpack and yellow pants. The Squid Form’s special ability is to fire cyan-colored ink by pressing the B button. This ink has a fast projectile speed and can be used quickly, making it a valuable tool in battles. While it does only deal average damage to enemies, its speed makes it an effective option for quickly dispatching foes. Additionally, the Squid Form grants Banjo and Kazooie the ability to increase their jump height while inside the water. This allows them to reach tall platforms that were previously out of range. Another significant advantage of the Squid Form is the ability to swim through poisonous waters without taking damage. By using this form, Banjo and Kazooie can enter the pipe found in the poisonous sea, leading to the Mucky Passage. This small area is home to a Jiggy that can only be obtained by navigating through various obstacles and enemies. Without the Squid Form, the protagonists would be unable to collect this valuable Jiggy, making it an important transformation for players to obtain. Furthermore, there is another golden Jiggy located on a tall pillar in Spiller’s Harbor that is only accessible as squid. Banjo and Kazooie must use the Squid Form to jump out of the sea and reach the top of the tall pillar, which holds the Jiggy. In Freezing Furnace, Banjo and Kazooie will encounter a high-located pillar near the world entrance. This pillar holds an Extra Honeycomb on it, which can only be obtained with the Squid Form’s high-jump ability. Thus, players must have unlocked the Squid Form in order to obtain this Extra Honeycomb. Overall, the Squid Form is a valuable and versatile transformation that is essential for obtaining certain items and accessing certain areas in the game. Its abilities to fire ink, jump higher while in water, and swim through poisonous water make it really unique.
