Power Extender

The Power Extender is a diminutive, yet valuable collectible token available in Yooka-Laylee, the first installment in the series. Its primary function is to amplify the size of the Power Meter, a vital energy gauge in the game that enables players to perform potent techniques for more extended periods. These crystal-shaped Power Extenders are a unique combination of purple and orange colors, adorned with a neon green lightning bolt running down its center that is surrounded by a white shimmer. Players can find these collectibles hidden inside a Grand Tome in various worlds throughout the game. The default energy value of the Power Meter for the game’s protagonists is six units, and the collection of a Power Extender elevates this value by one. Upon collecting all six Power Extenders, the Power Meter’s maximum total value becomes twelve, and when players use the Athlete Tonic offered by Vendi, it increases by three more units. Hence, with all six Power Extenders in the game and the Athlete Tonic equipped, Yooka and Laylee’s maximum total value reaches fifteen, significantly enhancing the gameplay experience. As the primary energy gauge in the game, the Power Meter, also referred to as Power Bar, fuels several techniques that Yooka and Laylee can perform. Once the power meter is empty the protagonists can no longer execute the specific techniques. Players must either collect Butterflies to replenish the meter promptly or wait for it to naturally refill. It will automatically refill within fifteen seconds if players abstain from using any techniques requiring the Power Meter. However, equipping the Livewire Tonic reduces the duration to a mere five seconds, allowing the protagonists for a faster recharge. Overall, the Power Extender is an item that players can use to increase the size of the Power Meter by one.
