The Slurp Shot is an exceptional skill introduced in the game Yooka-Laylee, exclusively learnable by the game’s protagonist Yooka. This distinctive ability makes its debut in the world Tribalstack Tropics, the game’s first world, where players have the opportunity to learn it from the instructor Trwozer in exchange for 30 Quills. Its execution simply involves pressing the B button on an Xbox Controller, enabling Yooka to utilize his versatile tongue to consume a variety of objects such as Butterflies and Berries. Also, Yooka’s tongue automatically targets the nearest edible, copyable or grabbable object within close proximity. The act of consuming butterflies not only replenishes Yooka’s butterfly energy but also serves to restore a portion of Yooka and Laylee’s Power Meter through mere collection. Furthermore, his capacity to ingest different types of berries throughout the game bestows him with corresponding power-ups, each with a fixed duration. By devouring Bomberries, Yooka gains the ability to fire bombs capable of obliterating obstacles like cracked stones. The consumption of Frostberries grants him the power to discharge ice balls, facilitating the activation of switches, for instance. Similarly, Scorchberries empower him to project fire and ignite unlit torches, while Splashberries enable the protagonist to expel water, extinguishing fires and unveiling new places or collectibles, such as the Pagie concealed behind a fiery obstacle in the Lobby of Hivory Towers with the huge golden Capital B statue. Notably, Slurp Shot assumes additional significance in relation to the pink Ghost Writer, as Yooka must use the various berries to satiate its hunger, thus allowing for the collection of the Ghost Writer. Furthermore, Yooka has the opportunity to acquire two new moves, namely Slurp State and Lizard Lash, as extensions to the Slurp Shot technique. Through the Slurp State ability, Yooka gains the capacity to consume objects such as beehives, resulting in a sticky coating that facilitates traversing slopes. Also, the Lizard Lash enhancement, on the other hand, grants the protagonist an expanded range for his remarkable tongue, enabling him to lock onto Grapple Points to propel himself upward.
