Ssslumber, a huge and languorous green rattlesnake, makes his appearance in the video game Banjo-Tooie. Endowed with exceptional hearing abilities, the tall green snake resides in the Jade Snake Grove of Mayahem Temple. This section of the temple is named after him, highlighting his importance in this area. To access the grove, players must utilize Mumbo’s Magic on the Golden Goliath and kick open the stone door that blocks the entrance. Despite being in a constant state of slumber, Ssslumber is very protective of his valuable Jiggy, which he guards diligently atop the Code Chamber pyramid where he resides. He has placed a mat of loose twigs around his golden Jiggy as a trap for any intruders. The placed twigs snap underfoot, alerting him to any potential threats. To sneak up on Ssslumber and grab his treasure without waking him, players must tread carefully and tiptoe across the twigs. One needs to jump up onto a portion of the ground free of twigs and gently walk on the branches to avoid making any noise. Alternatively, players can also use a well-placed Clockwork Kazooie Egg to get Ssslumber’s valuable Jiggy, but if it hits him and it’s the first time the protagonists are trying to steal his Jiggy, the entire game will freeze after the cutscene finishes playing. Another option to claim get his treasure is to jump towards Ssslumber with Kazooie’s Talon Trot activated, followed by using the Feathery Flap and extending the range with Beak Buster. Interestingly, Ssslumber’s Jiggy is not the only treasure that players can obtain from him. On the right side of Ssslumber, players can also find a Cheato Page, sitting on a stony pillar and can be collected by acquiring Banjo’s Grip Crab technique from Jamjars to grab onto the small ledge and pull the protagonists over. In conclusion, the careful planning and execution required to steal his treasures, which is a Jiggy, add to the overall excitement of Banjo-Tooie.
