Stop ‘n’ Swop II first appeared in the Xbox 360 re-release of Banjo-Tooie. This sequel to the original Stop ‘n’ Swop feature includes seven achievements players can unlock by completing specific tasks such as finding and collecting special eggs or using all of Humba Wumba’s transformations. While the original Stop ‘n’ Swop used different colored eggs and a large ice key to unlock rewards in Banjo-Tooie and Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, the true purpose of Stop ‘n’ Swop II remains somewhat mysterious. Since its introduction, speculation has circulated online about its intended function. Some fans believe Rare, the developers of the franchise, originally planned to incorporate Stop ‘n’ Swop II into a future game that would have allowed players to unlock unique rewards after completing all achievements in the rereleased version. Stop ‘n’ Swop II takes a different format compared to its predecessor. Rather than displaying collectibles on a sub-screen in the pause menu, they appear in an achievement-focused list. Unlocking these achievements requires fulfilling specific requirements. Three achievements are obtained by finding the bronze, silver, and gold eggs, which look slightly different from classic Stop ‘n’ Swop eggs with three unusual dots instead of a large question mark. These mystery eggs are located in the same places as they were in the Nintendo 64 version of Banjo-Tooie. Two eggs are hidden in Spiral Mountain, one inside an alcove above the tree stumps and another behind the waterfall. The third mystery egg is concealed in Jinjo Village inside a small frozen cave next to the Digger Tunnels.
» How to Unlock Stop 'n' Swop II
Before collecting Stop ‘n’ Swop II achievements, players must first unlock the feature itself. This requires owning the re-released version of Banjo-Kazooie and collecting all collectibles from the original Stop ‘n’ Swop in that game. To accomplish this, players must enter a lengthy code inside the Sandcastle of Treasure Trove Cove, which causes the eggs to spawn in specific worlds. Once collected, these items automatically transfer to sequel games, including Banjo-Tooie and Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, unlocking additional rewards such as new techniques, cheato codes, and playable characters for multiplayer modes. After obtaining all collectibles in Banjo-Kazooie, players must switch to Banjo-Tooie and bring the eggs to Heggy, who will hatch them to provide special rewards. Upon hatching the final egg, Heggy informs players about Stop ‘n’ Swop II and unlocks the feature. A new subscreen then appears in the pause menu listing all achievements the player has unlocked. Interestingly, if a player has already fulfilled requirements for an achievement but hasn’t yet unlocked Stop ‘n’ Swop II, the achievement will automatically appear on their screen once Heggy unlocks the feature. Also, whenever a player unlocks an achievement in the game, a brief notification window appears on screen to acknowledge their progress.
