Terrydactyland, the fifth playable world in the game Banjo-Tooie, is a prehistoric haven accessed through the game’s hub world Isle O’ Hags. This world features a population of highly-intelligent and speaking dinosaurs that have managed to evade extinction. In the center of Terrydactyland stands a massive mountain that looms over the entire region, its summit is the big nest of Terry, a protective father desperately searching for his precious eggs willing to attack anyone who dares to encroach on his territory. The world Terrydactyland contains different tribes such as the Unga Bungas, the Oogle Boogles, and the Styracosaurus family. Oogle Boogles are the weakest tribe and require aid from Banjo and Kazooie as they struggle to survive, freezing and starving in their small cavern. Players can discover three new abilities from Jamjars, the character who teaches moves to the protagonists, including Springy Step Shoes, Taxi Pack, and Hatch. The last ability is necessary for a quest where Terry will request their help to locate his missing eggs, after initially accusing them of stealing them. To gain access to Terrydactyland, the protagonists must collect twenty Jiggies and complete the picture challenge inside Jiggywiggy’s Temple, which will break the stony teeth of a dinosaur like mountain, blocking the entrance. Mumbo Jumbo’s Skull is also featured in Terrydactyland, where Mumbo’s magic can be used to increase or decrease the tent size of Humba Wumba, another Magic User in the game. Changing the size of the tent will affect the T-Rex transformation, allowing Banjo and Kazooie to become either a Baby T-Rex to unlock small heavy stone doors with its silhouette or a Daddy T-Rex to press heavy switches and scare Unga Bungas. Terrydactyland’s unique prehistoric atmosphere, with its speaking dinosaurs, new abilities to acquire, and exciting quests, make it an unforgettable world to explore in the game.

» Shortcuts in Terrydactyland

The prehistoric world called Terrydactyland contains two shortcuts that can transport the player to other worlds. The first one is located inside a cave in the massive mountain at the center of the world, leading to the Unga Bunga cave. By using this shortcut, players will be transported to the Mayahem Temple inside the Treasure Chamber where they’ll find Chief Bloatazin. The shortcut is crucial in recovering the rare Golden Relic, which has been stolen by one of the Unga Bungas. To retrieve the artifact, players must perform Banjo’s Tip Toe on the mat of loose twigs surrounding the cave to avoid waking the sleeping Unga Bunga. Once it has been secured, players must use Terrydactyland’s first shortcut to return it to Chief Bloatazin, who will reward them with a Jiggy in return for their efforts. The second shortcut can be found inside the Oogle Boogle cave, which is situated to the right of the world entrance by way of a steep ramp. By using this shortcut, players can access the Area-51 Zone in the third world Witchworld. The Oogle Boogles in Terrydactyland are experiencing severe hunger pangs and as this is the only shortcut in the theme park without a crossed food sign on the wall, which permits the transport of food to other locations, Banjo and Kazooie must procure some fries and burgers in Witchyworld and use the shortcut to bring them to the starving Oogle Boogles. In exchange for their assistance, they’ll be rewarded with a Jiggy that has some teeth marks on it, as the Oogle Boogles initially mistook it for a chocolate piece.
