Trowzer

Trowzer is a character in the popular game Yooka-Laylee, who offers the duo abilities at the cost of Quills. As an Adder snake, Trowzer has striking stripes of alternating light and dark red across his back, complemented by a beige belly and yellow eyes. He is dressed in an Australian slouch hat with a large bite taken out of it, a mustard-yellow striped necktie, and a black belt holding up a pair of khaki shorts. Trowzer’s tail goes through one of the shorts’ leg holes and then goes back up through the other hole, where it is situated next to his head. He rests his weight on the middle of his tail while sitting upright and seems to use the end of his tail as a hand. His shorts feature a blue sewn-on patch on a side, perhaps suggesting that his business ventures are not altogether successful. Furthermore, he is the owner of Trowzers Worldwide Incredible Traders Co. Ltd., and he carries with him a brick phone made by Brickcom, with the year 1985 written on it. Despite his lack of success, Trowzer is convinced that he is the greatest salesman ever and has been called smug and a loser because of that. However, his services are invaluable, and he is well-respected for his ability to teach new moves to Yooka and Laylee. In Yooka-Laylee, he teaches the duo new moves in exchange for a fee of Quills. Once the player acquires a move from Trowzer, he explains its use. Interestingly, when Yooka and Laylee speak to Trowzer in the hub world Hivory Towers, he will offer a new move free of charge to help open a new Grand Tome and expand his business. In Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Trowzer’s role is dramatically different as he expands the hub world, Royal Stingdom, in exchange for a certain amount of T.W.I.T. Coins through the use of paywalls. It appears that he is inspired by Bottles and Jamjars from the Banjo-Kazooie series, as both characters teach the protagonists different moves. Trowzer also only teaches moves to the player if he has a certain amount of Quills, much like Jamjars. His character adds an interesting and useful element to the game, and he is a memorable character for Yooka-Laylee fans.
