In Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, players encounter a rare and valuable currency known as T.W.I.T Coins, which are golden coins that feature a dollar symbol that resembles the image of Trowzer, a salesman. The snake symbol on these coins is no coincidence, as they are specifically used to pay Trowzer, who has constructed multiple Paywalls throughout Royal Stingdom. These walls prevent Yooka and Laylee from accessing other areas of the game world until they collect enough T.W.I.T Coins to lower the Paywalls. To acquire T.W.I.T Coins, players have to search each world and complete challenges such as Ghost Quill challenges, destroying obstacles, or solving puzzles, while some T.W.I.T Coins can be found floating in the air, requiring the player to navigate the environment and collect them. Also if the player fails to reach the next Checkmate, they must collect the coins again. However, players can utilize a Tonic called the T.W.I.T Coin Banker, which allows them to retain their coins as long as they complete the world before they are added to the total amount. There are a total of two hundred T.W.I.T Coins scattered throughout the game, and they are important to lowering the five Paywalls constructed by Trowzer. Lowering each Paywall unlocks an achievement for the player, and after all five are lowered, Trowzer can be found in the Canyon section near his house. Here, players have the option to pay him some coins to unlock a fourth Tonic Slot. Furthermore, collecting all two hundred coins is required to achieve a hundred percent completion of the game. In conclusion, T.W.I.T Coins serve as a key aspect of the game’s progression system, motivating players to explore and complete challenges to obtain them. With the challenge of navigating each world to collect the coins necessary to progress, players must utilize their skills and abilities to overcome various obstacles in the game and achieve victory.
