The Washer Form is a funny but useful transformation in the Banjo-Kazooie franchise, appearing in both games Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. In Banjo-Kazooie, this transformation is achieved by Mumbo Jumbo’s transformation spell gone awry. As a result, the protagonists are humorously transformed into a washing machine. After completing all of Bottles’ Bonus Challenges, a cheat code is unlocked which allows players to transform into the washing machine at will. This version of the transformation, known as Wishy Washy Banjo, can use all of Banjo and Kazooie’s abilities except for the Stilt Stride and Turbo Talon Trot. The Washer Form has several advantages, such as the ability to traverse hazardous environments, including piranha-infested waters, hot sands and icy cold water without harm. However, the transformation has some limitations compared to Banjo’s normal form. For example, the Washer Form can’t hold items such as Blubber’s gold, has a reduced attack range and can’t wear White Turbo Trainers or Wading Boots. Mumbo is initially opposed to transforming the protagonists while they’re in the form of the washing machine, but he’ll ultimately do so if needed. Interestingly, when transforming the protagonists back, the pink shaman, Mumbo Jumbo, will turn them into the washing machine again, adding to the comedic aspect of the Washer Form. In the sequel game Banjo-Tooie, the Washer Form becomes a more significant transformation, native to Grunty Industries, the game’s industrial-themed level. In this game the Washer Form is no longer used as a joke, but is instead an important part of the level’s design. The Washer transformation is equipped with wheels, allowing it to move quickly through the world. It also has the largest health bar in the game, which can be upgraded to up to eleven honeycombs, making it a strong transformation for battles. The Washer Form can also attack by firing Banjo’s tighty whitey underwear, which has the same damage as a Blue Egg but does not travel in a straight line. Additionally, players can use the Washer Form to help the Skivvy rabbits by washing their overalls, adding a fun and quirky element to the game. The immense weight of the transformation allows players to press down on heavy switches in the level, but it impairs the jumping ability of Banjo and Kazooie. It’s also crucial to note that the transformation always has one more health point than the protagonist can have. Finally, it allows players to access areas of Grunty Industries that are inaccessible to other forms, such as mechanical personnel-only doors and the service elevator to reach other floors within Grunty Industries. However, as stated in the game’s guidelines, the players in this form are unable to use the warp pads. In conclusion, it is an entertaining addition that offers players new ways to navigate the game’s environments.
