Mama Clucker

Mama Clucker banner placeholder

Mama Clucker, also referred to as Momma Clucker, is the mother hen looking for her five chicks in Cliff Farm in Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge. She waits in the Farm Heights region, worried that the missing youngsters will be eaten by Gruntweeds. Banjo agrees to find them, beginning a search through the barnyard, river and upper farm paths. Returning the whole family earns a Jiggy and leads to a further conversation in which the grateful hen offers to accompany him. Mama also makes a later appearance at Banjo-Pilot’s awards ceremony. Her rescue request belongs to the early part of the adventure, when Banjo is still searching for the kidnapped Kazooie and handling the farm’s problems on his own.

Mama Clucker and Her Game Appearances

Mama is a hen whose role is defined by her concern for her missing children. The five chicks have wandered into different parts of the farm, and the presence of Gruntweeds makes their absence more worrying than an ordinary game of hide-and-seek. She asks the visiting bear for help and remains available as the return point for the completed rescue. Farm Heights is the upper farming region reached from Cliff Farm proper, with the barn, pens, mill and Mumbo’s Pad providing landmarks for the search. Momma Clucker is an alternative spelling used for the mother in descriptions of this encounter. Mama appears again in Banjo-Pilot among the characters attending the Grand Prix awards ceremony. The ceremony follows an overall finish of third place or better, allowing the player to see supporting characters who are not part of the playable racing roster. Her role here is a brief spectator cameo rather than another request to recover chicks or eggs. Alfred P. Cock and other familiar Grunty’s Revenge characters also appear in this celebration.

Beginning the Rescue as Banjo

Enter Farm Heights from the northern route through Cliff Farm and approach the hen near the farm buildings. Speak to her to learn about the five missing chicks before making a circuit of the area. At this stage Banjo has not yet rescued Kazooie from Breegull Beach, so the routes use his own movement and backpack attacks. Deal with nearby Gruntweeds and Whiplashes as necessary while exploring the pens and ledges, keeping the river and the barn in view as orientation points. The chick search can be completed before taking Mumbo’s Mouse transformation. Exploring the farm as the ordinary bear is enough to locate the youngsters and return to the mother for her reward.

Where to Find All Five Chicks

One chick is on the farm vehicle or trailer in the southern part of the barnyard. Another is on the small island in the river to the west, alongside a separate Jiggy that can be collected during the same visit. A third occupies the area behind the water mill, reached using the riverbank and the neighbouring ledges. Another waits in front of Mumbo Jumbo’s hut on the upper farm route. The remaining chick is on the western side of the main barn area, near the pens and grassy paths. Check each of these five landmarks rather than treating a guide’s numbering as the order in which the chicks must be found. The task is to recover the full group, so visiting only the conspicuous vehicle and island leaves the upper paths unfinished.

The River Island and Water Mill Route

From the barnyard, drop into the river and swim to the small island to collect its chick and the Jiggy lying there. The island’s prize is an independent collectible, so finding it does not replace Mama’s reward for bringing back all five chicks. Continue along the river towards the stone bridge, passing beneath its northern side to avoid the tentacle obstructing the other passage. The stream leads towards the waterwheel, with banks and ledges providing the way back onto the farm’s higher ground. Use those routes to reach the mill-side chick and continue towards Mumbo’s Pad. This circuit helps cover the less obvious waterside positions before returning through the pens to the waiting mother.

The Family’s Reward and Follow-up Conversation

After locating all five chicks, return to the hen to finish the rescue and receive her Jiggy. The completed task brings a change from her original anxiety to gratitude for the bear who helped her family. Speaking to her again produces an additional exchange: she offers to travel with Banjo and help him with his adventure. Banjo politely declines because he does not think Kazooie would understand. The joke connects the hen’s offer with his missing partner without making Mama a replacement companion or unlocking a new playable form. It is worth returning to speak after the reward, since collecting the Jiggy alone does not convey this extra reaction.

The Similar Hen and the Egg-Slide Encounter

Cliff Farm also contains a similar-looking hen beside the cave entrance to a sliding minigame, commonly discussed alongside Mama Clucker. The shared design does not settle whether the two encounters involve the same individual. The slide hen asks for twelve eggs to be recovered from the course. To reach her, learn Climbing from Bozzeye in lower Cliff Farm with 40 Musical Notes, then climb the ladders leading up to the cave. Speak to the hen and enter the opening nearby to start the descent. This is a separate task from finding five chicks around Farm Heights: its objective is a complete set of eggs on a slide, and its reward is another of the world’s Jiggies. As Banjo slides through the cave, steer into the eggs while keeping clear of the spikes along the course. There are twelve eggs to collect for the hen’s reward, and hitting a spike makes Banjo spin, which can throw him out of position for an approaching egg. Focus on the complete collection rather than simply reaching the exit. The course returns Banjo to the lower area near Bozzeye’s climbing lesson. Climb the ladders again and speak to the slide hen to claim the Jiggy after a successful run. If eggs were missed, make another attempt at the course before expecting the reward. This cave encounter and Mama’s outdoor chick rescue both concern a hen’s offspring, but they use different mechanics, locations and collection totals.
