Potty Mouth is the talking cooking pot who accompanies the skeleton explorer Clara in Yooka-Laylee and returns with her in Yooka-Replaylee. Yooka and Laylee first encounter him in Tribalstack Tropics, where Clara has been tied above his bubbling contents and needs help escaping her captors. His rounded metal body has a broad open rim, handles at the sides and a large face worked into the front, with heavy brows and a mouth that moves as he joins the conversation. Green liquid fills the vessel, and the fire beneath him casts a warm light across the dark bronze colouring of his original appearance. The remake gives the same design a brighter coppery finish, making the face and decorative markings more prominent. Bones and rope form part of the surrounding cooking arrangement, including the supports behind Clara when she is held above the pot. Although the explorer values him as an antique, Potty Mouth is perfectly able to object to the way other people describe him. His blunt replies contrast with Clara's grander claims about her expeditions: he makes a joke about how little flesh she would contribute to a meal, complains about her talking and reacts when he is called an ordinary old pot. His name combines the object he resembles with a familiar description of cheeky or impolite speech. The pair's next meeting in Glitterglaze Glacier gives Clara a reason to defend his value and ask for his rescue, rather than remaining the captive herself. The remake changes that arrangement again, allowing Potty Mouth to make the request and hand over the reward when Clara goes missing among the igloos.
Clara’s Rescue in Tribalstack Tropics
The original first encounter takes place in the raised village near the entrance to Tribalstack Tropics. Following the wooden walkway brings the duo to the cooking area, where Clara is secured in position above Potty Mouth and the fire below him. She describes the danger as being captured by monsters who intend to cook and eat her, although Yooka immediately notices that the supposed meal is already a skeleton. Potty Mouth joins in with a remark about the captors needing someone with more flesh, establishing that the vessel has his own opinion of the situation before the rescue begins. Clara asks the newcomers to help and promises a Pagie in return, explaining that her captors will soon be back with condiments. Accepting the request begins a combat challenge around the cooking area. Tribal Corplets emerge from the village entrances and threaten to add the lizard and bat to their skeleton soup, so completing the objective requires defeating the attackers rather than breaking the pot or searching for an item inside him. There are fifteen enemies across the encounter, with later arrivals continuing after the first group has fallen. Attacking as they approach and using the butterflies around the area to recover health keeps the fight manageable without moving the captive to another location. The conversation also changes if the player postpones the task. Yooka supplies an excuse about an oven left on at home, Clara complains about the discomfort of remaining tied up and Potty Mouth asks the pair to return because she is giving him a headache. Those replies give both characters a response to being left waiting, rather than treating the offer as a single conversation that cannot be revisited. Once the enemies have been defeated, the duo speak to Clara for the promised Pagie. Her further remarks concern another expedition after the world has been expanded, while Potty Mouth remains at the village cooking area.
The Antique Pot in Glitterglaze Glacier
In the original Glitterglaze Glacier encounter, Clara is standing outside Potty Mouth and describes him as the valuable artefact being held by the nearby tribe. The location is the snowy cliff settlement with five igloos, reached through the Frozen Path or by approaching from the shore near the three tall towers. The cold route uses Slurp State to absorb warmth from the fire pits, with Slurp Shot and Slurp State learned from Trowzer in the first two worlds. Lighting the remaining pits provides a way through the freezing passage and gives the duo access to the settlement without requiring the Grand Tome to be expanded first. Clara's concern for her antique is met with Laylee's suggestion that the old pot is worth about as much as Yooka's socks. The explorer insists on his value, while Potty Mouth objects to the insult himself. The rescue objective is to smash the roofs of the five igloos, where the tribe is preparing for dinner. Yooka and Laylee can jump onto each marked roof and use Buddy Slam to collapse it, dealing with the enemies released from the broken structures as they work through the settlement. Dr. Puzz's Snowplough transformation offers another way to break the igloos by charging into them, although the ordinary Buddy Slam method does not depend on bringing that form to the area. Potty Mouth remains beside the cooking fire while the duo work through the settlement. Completing the objective leads to Clara's relieved response and a Pagie reward. She remarks on the damage done to the settlement, prompting Yooka's joke about putting the igloos back together, and later thanks the pair for saving her pot. This encounter reverses their first meeting by making Potty Mouth the object of Clara's rescue request and the explorer the person explaining what needs to be done.
Potty Mouth in Yooka-Replaylee
Yooka-Replaylee returns Potty Mouth and Clara to the two worlds while revising the challenges surrounding them. In Tribalstack Tropics, the village encounter combines wooden enemy cutouts with an attack by Capital B's actual minions, so the player must complete the target-smashing and combat stages before claiming the Pagie. Potty Mouth retains his place beside the explorer and continues to answer her remarks, including objecting when she describes her predicament as a pot of bother. His dialogue gives the pun a second meaning because the pot can hear and respond to the description. The glacier quest makes a larger change to their roles. Potty Mouth waits outside the igloos and calls the duo over because Clara has gone property viewing inside one of the buildings and has not come back. Rather than presenting the original request to save a valuable antique, he complains that the missing explorer has left him waiting and that he is becoming hungry. Laylee proposes some well-placed Buddy Slams as the answer, while Yooka contributes a joke about the property market. Smashing the igloo roofs exposes the missing skeleton and completes the search, after which Clara stands beside Potty Mouth again. The pot now takes the lead in the reward exchange, offering the old piece of paper that serves as the Pagie if the newcomers will leave them alone. A return conversation refers to having a meat-ing of minds with Clara, continuing the cooking jokes after the immediate objective is finished. His impatient speech therefore has a practical role as well as supplying reactions: he explains the problem, asks the pair to find his companion and provides the reward when they do. The two versions use the same recognisable characters and roof-smashing activity, but they differ over who is missing, who requests help and who concludes the conversation.
