Rextro’s Arcade is the collection of eight retro minigames hosted by Rextro Sixtyfourus in Yooka-Laylee. The dinosaur has a room of cabinets in Hivory Towers, while five oversized machines in the Grand Tomes turn arcade play into part of the Pagie hunt. Each of those world machines requires its own Play Coin and awards two Pagies: one for completing the game and another for beating its record on a later attempt. The full collection also supports local competition for up to four players, covering kart racing, an arena brawl, shooting, flag possession and several obstacle courses. These are the original 2017 games. Rextro Bytes Back in Yooka-Replaylee replaces them with a different eight-course adventure and has its own controls, medal rewards and Play Coin locations.
Finding Rextro’s Arcade
In Hivory Towers, follow the route towards Glitterglaze Glacier and look for the neon pink arrows leading into a side passage. They point into Rextro’s carpeted arcade, with its striped walls and row of eight machines. This room provides a central place to revisit the collection, but the five campaign reward challenges are introduced at the individual world cabinets. If one of those games remains unavailable, return to its Grand Tome and give that world’s Play Coin to Rextro. The pink machines are separate from Kartos’s minecart rides, even though one arcade game uses his name. There is also a damaged cabinet in the hub room with an exploration Pagie inside its screen.
Play Coins and the Two Pagie Attempts
Find the large Play Coin in a world, hand it to the Rextro standing beside the arcade and climb onto the machine to interact with its controls. A coin from one Grand Tome does not open another world’s cabinet. Complete the introductory challenge, collect the first Pagie and speak to Rextro again for his record challenge. Even an excellent first run does not combine both rewards into one attempt: the high-score Pagie requires another run after the first prize. Across five worlds this supplies ten Pagies. Arcade Quills contribute to a minigame score rather than the Grand Tome’s 200-Quill collection, and repeated victories do not create unlimited campaign Pagies. Keep those totals separate when checking what remains to collect.
Tribalstack Tropics Play Coin
Rextro’s pink machine stands beside the upper walls of the canal near Nimble’s racetrack. Descend into the trench and follow the track towards its shallow water and dirt ramp. A small opening in the wall leads to a chamber containing the Play Coin on a ledge at the back. Collect it, return to the machine above and give it to Rextro to unlock Kartos Karting. The coin can be collected while exploring this area; it is not the reward for defeating Nimble in her race. Use the walls and stone pillars to get back to the cabinet rather than searching the temple interior for another token.
Kartos Karting
Drive the small cart around the circuit for five laps. Finishing within five minutes clears the introductory challenge; the record attempt requires a time below 2:30. Steering is the main task, with narrow bridges, water, flames and obstructing enemies punishing careless turns. Keep a consistent line through the bends and avoid collecting an item just because it lies nearby: one pickup reverses the controls, while others provide a speed boost or slow time. A clean lap usually gains more than a rushed turn followed by a fall. In multiplayer, projectiles and competing carts add interference, but the campaign target remains the total time for all five laps. This is a circuit race, with no Kartos gem quota to satisfy.
Glitterglaze Glacier Play Coin
Expand Glitterglaze Glacier before looking for this machine inside the Icymetric Palace. From the palace entrance, take the right-hand route through the corridor of dropping spikes, then enter Rextro’s room. Behind barrels in the back-left corner is a passage into a chamber filled with apparent Play Coins. Pause to watch them instead of grabbing at random: the genuine token rotates out of step with the rest. Pick out that coin and return to Rextro to open Glaciators. The room of copies is part of the coin puzzle, so the first bright token you notice is not necessarily the one that activates the machine.
Glaciators
Survive the campaign’s two-minute round on a hexagonal ice arena, then return for a score above 1,400. Move through the Quills dropped by Nimbo while attacking or avoiding enemies, and watch for floor sections that shake before sinking. A promising cluster is not worth following onto a disappearing tile when no safe return remains. Higher-value Quills help the record attempt, while temporary speed and invincibility items make collecting under pressure easier. In local competition, attacks can strip Quills from another player and the current leader is marked with a crown, making survival and positioning part of keeping a lead. Collecting enough points is only half the campaign task: stay alive until the timer actually expires.
Moodymaze Marsh Play Coin
This original-game coin uses a tree-climbing route, rather than the water-crate location found in Replaylee. Learn Lizard Lash from Trowzer in Moodymaze Marsh, then use the area reached beyond the underwater passage with thorny plants. Climb the rocks beside the pool and find the large wooden block attached to the nearby wall. Pull it down with Lizard Lash to expose a climbing platform. From the stone pedestal, use the higher tongue targets to work up into the trees, clear the mushroom enemy and follow the branch towards the Play Coin. Bring the token back to the pink machine by the swamp’s walkways to unlock Bee Bop.
Bee Bop
Pilot the bee-like Corplet Drone and attack enemies from above. The first objective is to remain alive until the two-minute timer ends; the later record challenge asks for more than 4,000 points. Position over a group before using the downward attack so that one dive can hit several enemies. Each attack draws on the power meter, so leave enough energy for the next target instead of repeatedly slamming empty ground. Use boosts to cross the arena and take advantage of invincibility when it allows a safe attack, while keeping clear of the flame jets and water hazards. New enemies appear as earlier groups are removed. Once the score is high enough, continue protecting the run until time runs out.
Capital Cashino Play Coin
Follow the entrance-side hallway to Rextro’s arcade area and find the three-window slot machine beside him. Use Lizard Lash on its lever and pull backwards to start the reels. Then Buddy Slam each of the three floor buttons when the corresponding window is about to show Yooka and Laylee together. Matching all three portraits dispenses the Play Coin. Watch a reel’s full sequence before stopping it if the timing is unfamiliar; pressing every button quickly is unlikely to give the correct result. Take the token to Rextro to activate Hurdle Hijinx. This specific slot prize is the arcade coin, separate from the Cashino Tokens collected for the casino banker.
Hurdle Hijinx
Reach the end of the casino obstacle course by switching lanes, jumping over dice and using the roll against enemies. On Xbox, A jumps, the left stick changes lanes, LT slows the runner and RT rolls. Pick the correct lane before mounting a raised platform because lane changes are restricted while on it. The first successful finish earns a Pagie; the second target is a score above 24,000, collected through the Quills along the route. Damage and falling too far behind cost points, so a controlled run with valuable pickups is preferable to chasing every small Quill. Blue invincibility helps clear trouble, while the green poison pickup slows progress. Keep watching the next lane as you land from a jump.
Galleon Galaxy Play Coin
Expand Galleon Galaxy to reveal the island with Rextro’s cabinet. From the fast-travel tube serving that island, follow the path left towards a small shack and take the narrow climb behind it. A member of the Knights of Hamalot stands higher up the slope; the Play Coin is on the rock pillar behind her. Use Flappy Flight to reach the top, collect the coin and return to Rextro near the tube. To reach the machine’s controls, use the nearby ledges and Lizard Leap, or approach from the upper ramp and glide around the fence. The floating balloon chest belongs to the remake’s route and is not this game’s token location.
Up ’N’ Nova
Keep Yooka and Laylee airborne through a scrolling space course. Repeated use of the boost or jump action controls their height, while forward and backward movement lets you adjust position within the moving screen. The floor is hazardous along with the ceiling, enemies and terrain, so ordinary platform-game landing habits are unhelpful here. Survive to the final hoop for the first reward, then return to beat 14,000 points. Collect the higher-value Quills when there is room to take them safely and make small height adjustments around narrow passages. Collisions cost a life and part of the score, so reaching a useful route through the next opening matters more than forcing a late climb into a valuable pickup.
CAMPAIGN RECORD TARGETS
Kartos Karting | Tribalstack Tropics
Five laps in under 2:30. A time of 2:30 is the record to beat.
Glaciators | Glitterglaze Glacier
Score more than 1,400 and survive until the campaign round ends.
Bee Bop | Moodymaze Marsh
Score more than 4,000 and survive until the round ends.
Hurdle Hijinx | Capital Cashino
Finish the course with more than 24,000 points.
Up ’N’ Nova | Galleon Galaxy
Reach the final hoop with more than 14,000 points.
Gun-tlet Run
Gun-tlet Run is the collection’s shooting game. Move through the course, jump around obstructions and shoot the Corplets and larger Corplet Punishers to build a score. Keep the firing line in front of the character instead of moving straight into an enemy while trying to line up a last-second shot. In multiplayer, opponents compete for the same opportunities and can interfere with a clear route through the arena, so positioning near the next useful target is part of earning points. This is one of the three additional games in the complete arcade collection, with no sixth Grand Tome Play Coin or extra pair of campaign Pagies to find for it.
Blag the Flag
Take possession of the small red flag and keep it for as much of the round as possible. Points accumulate from holding it, while attacks let another player steal possession. Once carrying it, move around the arena and use jumps, the roll and its available attacks to keep challengers away rather than standing still for a fight. When chasing the leader, aim to intercept their next route instead of following several steps behind. The winner is decided by the score earned over the round, so possessing the flag at the final instant is not a substitute for holding it earlier. Fire, enemies and the other arena hazards still need attention while watching rivals.
Jobstacle Course
Control a Corplet through a course of sliding blocks while collecting Quills. Study the openings between the moving pieces and advance into a passage when it is open far enough to cross, rather than pushing against a closing wall. Getting crushed costs a portion of the score and returns the character to the course, making repeated collisions expensive even when the next checkpoint is close. In competition the objective is to finish with the most points, so a clean path through useful Quill groups can outperform a frantic route that repeatedly loses them. This completes the set of eight games alongside the five Grand Tome challenges, Gun-tlet Run and Blag the Flag.
Playing with Other People
From the main menu, choose Rextro’s Arcade: 2P-4P and select the save whose arcade collection you want to use. Choose a game, then have each player join on their controller before continuing; the standard confirmation is A on Xbox or X on PlayStation. The arcade supports up to four people locally, and its contests are distinct from the two-player Bee Team assistance available in the adventure. Read the selected game’s control screen, since racing, flying and controlling a Corplet use different actions. Campaign Play Coins and record rewards are tracked through the relevant save and world machines, so use those machines when working specifically towards the ten arcade Pagies.
The Broken Cabinet Pagie
The damaged machine in the Hivory Towers arcade holds a separate Pagie behind cracked glass. Return with Reptile Rush, learned from Trowzer in Capital Cashino, and reach the screen from a neighbouring cabinet using Lizard Leap, or approach with Flappy Flight once that move is available. Break the glass with the charged rush and collect the Pagie inside; Sonar ’Splosion is another way to shatter it later. This reward comes from exploring the room and does not depend on winning Gun-tlet Run, Blag the Flag or Jobstacle Course. Counting it alongside the ten world-machine rewards explains why there is more to collect around the arcade than the five pairs of game prizes.
Achievements, Livewire and Related Guides
Completing one campaign arcade game earns When I’m 64, and beating a machine’s record earns What’s a leaderboard?, each worth 10 Gamerscore on Xbox. Beating records on three different arcade machines also unlocks Vendi’s Livewire Tonic, which makes the ordinary adventure’s power meter regenerate faster. Three successful attempts at the same machine do not satisfy that three-machine condition. See the Yooka-Laylee achievement guide for the wider checklist. For the reworked eight-course collection, its 24 medals and revised coin routes, use Rextro Bytes Back (Yooka-Replaylee). Its bronze, silver and gold reward labels do not describe this original game’s completion-and-record system.
