Flower Form

Flower Form banner placeholder

Flower Form is the D.N.Ray transformation associated with Tribalstack Tropics in Yooka-Laylee and Yooka-Replaylee. The duo become a walking plant, with their recognisable green and purple heads carried above long leafy stalks. Red petals surround the green head, while the plant’s thin limbs and leaves replace the ordinary chameleon-and-bat silhouette. The form walks, jumps and sprays nearby plants, and it can hold conversations with the world’s Plant Bulbs. These abilities replace the duo’s normal combat and traversal moves, so a task requiring Buddy Slam or Sonar Shot must be prepared before transforming or attempted after changing back. In the original game, unlock the form by finding the Mollycool above Duke’s Temple. Buy Sonar Shot from Trowzer on the temple for thirty Quills, then use it on the sleeping totem beside the inactive lift. Ride the revealed platform to the upper level and look for the three moving platforms leading away from the building. Time the jumps across them to reach the separate stone pillar carrying the Mollycool. Drop back to the ground and bring it to Dr. Puzz, beside her machine near the temple. Speak to the scientist, then stand on the D.N.Ray’s platform and use the interaction button to transform. Puzz reacts to the result by observing that it is not a T-Rex, before explaining the plant spray. Spray uses the normal Attack input rather than the tongue’s Slurp Shot command. Face a target at close range and keep spraying until it responds. Once the world’s machine has been powered, the form can be used again without finding another Mollycool. Return to its platform and interact to restore Yooka and Laylee when their ordinary moves are needed. The first Quack-Fire Quiz can also ask about Puzz’s first transformation; the correct answer identifies it as a plant.

Growing the Six Bulbs and Hearing Their Hints

The original Flower task takes place in the garden across the little bridge near Dr. Puzz, at the foot of Nimbo’s Mountain. A large Plant Bulb calls for attention beside a carved totem and asks the transformed visitor to help her six sisters grow. The smaller bulbs are scattered around this same garden, including its ground-level recesses, spaces behind fallen stonework and raised planters. Walk around the edges as well as the central path, looking behind the broken pillars and checking the bowls above ground level. Jump onto the low ledges when a planter puts its bulb out of reach. Approach each small plant, face it and use Spray until it becomes a much larger bulb. Its increased size gives a visible record of which sisters have already been helped. The large speaking plant is the quest giver, so spraying her is not a replacement for finding the six small targets. Once all six have grown, return to her and speak again to collect a Pagie. Her response continues the flirtatious language of the request but explains that she does not favour the transformed duo’s googly eyes. The other conversational plants around Tribalstack Tropics give Flower Form a further use after this reward. One directs attention to a ghost near the hungry pig, Sir Scoffsalot, while another mentions a ghost hidden beneath the world entrance and credits the information to a grapevine. Two more discuss the expanded Tribalstack Monument: one points toward its Butterfly Extender and the other toward the Power Extender near its top, including the need to discover the relevant secret trigger. These are clues for later exploration with the duo’s normal abilities, rather than additional items produced by pollinating the six sisters. The plants also have different responses when sprayed or revisited, including objections to premature attention and remarks about the growing season. They can call out to the ordinary duo, but Flower Form is what allows the full plant conversations. Finish speaking to the nearby bulbs before returning to the D.N.Ray if their clues are still needed.

Flower Shower in Yooka-Replaylee

Yooka-Replaylee retains the Flower and the local D.N.Ray but changes both the Mollycool hiding place and the growth activity. Find the elevated pillar near the central temple and strike the ship’s wheel mounted there to release the Mollycool, then deliver it to Dr. Puzz beside the river. Use the activated platform to transform and approach the large Wildflower near the sandy stone enclosure. The remake’s small plants are moving targets: the speaker explains that her overheated friends cannot keep still and asks for help cooling them. Enter the enclosure, turn toward a small bulb and keep the spray directed at it as it moves. Once it has received enough spray, it grows into a large stationary plant. Work around those already grown to reach the small companions still running about, using their movement and size to keep track of unfinished targets. Completing the group produces the Flower Shower Pagie, which appears on the stone in the enclosure. This activity replaces the original garden search, so the old sequence of recesses and raised bowls is not the remake’s solution. The on-screen Spray command uses Square in the PlayStation layout or X in the Xbox layout. A separate Exit command, R2 or RT in those layouts, restores the duo without a return trip to the machine. The surrounding Wildflowers continue to offer conversations after the challenge. Their remake clues include secret Pirate Treasure in the worlds and an item dropped by the dinosaur in a cave off the riverbed, directing attention to Rextro’s lost Play Coin. These replace some of the original monument-upgrade advice, while the entrance-ghost and hungry-pig clues remain. The speaking plant also offers to reset the completed growth challenge so it can be played again for additional Q.U.I.D.S. Repeating it is separate from earning its first gold Pagie; the plant conversations and the normal duo’s wider exploration remain available after the sisters have grown.
