Planette is the boss of Galleon Galaxy in Yooka-Laylee and Yooka-Replaylee. A living planet with a face, she rises from the star-filled sea after Yooka and Laylee accidentally destroy her partner, Moonie. Her original introduction names her the Interstellar World Widow, while Moonie himself describes her as his girlfriend. She is much larger than the duo’s vessel, with a grey spherical body, pink-purple eyes and a volcano protruding from the top. Her expression changes from the anger of the introduction to the pained reactions caused by the ship’s attacks. During the battle she turns to expose three different kinds of surface: ordinary stone, blue ice and glowing red magma. Bright craters embedded in those sectors serve as weapons and weak points, while the volcano supplies further hazards when most of her body sinks below the water. In the original battle, the face becomes the final target once those outer defences have been broken. This encounter uses Spaceship Form, Dr. Puzz’s local transformation, throughout. The small green-and-purple pirate vessel can sail across the surrounding sea and carries the cannonballs, fire and ice needed to damage her different surfaces. Planette consequently tests the form’s whole weapon set rather than the ordinary duo’s platforming attacks. Her dialogue also ties the fight to the way it begins: she treats the approaching heroes as destructive space pirates, mourns Moonie and threatens a cataclysmic event in return. Even her defeat complaint concerns what her debris might do to their paintwork. The remake retains that personal grievance and elemental battle, but presents the activity as Malicious Moon, revises its effects and hazards and increases the Pagie reward.
Reaching Moonie and Starting the Original Battle
The original encounter belongs to the expanded version of Galleon Galaxy, which costs fifteen Pagies to open at its Grand Tome in Hivory Towers. Prepare the ship before approaching the asteroid enclosure near Black Hole in One and the large docked pirate ship. Dr. Puzz initially waits offshore because the lighthouse is not working. Activate the Buddy Slam switch at the top of Lightspeed House to turn on its beacon and guide her to the D.N.Ray dock below. The Mollycool is above the rotating light; use Flappy Flight to collect it, then hand it to Puzz to power the transformation machine. Trowzer’s local Sonar Shield lesson costs one hundred Quills and helps the normal duo pass the lighthouse’s damaging barriers, while Flappy Flight comes from his free lessons in the hub. Once transformed, practise the weapons on the rocks around the dock: cannonballs destroy the orange meteorites, fire melts the blue ice-covered ones and an ice shot activates the snowflake switch that lowers the gate. Sail out into the sea, continue behind the large pirate ship and break the rocks blocking the ring-shaped boss area. Moonie floats inside the enclosure and asks the visitors to deal with an itch on his back. He specifically recommends their cannon and reassures them that making a crater will be acceptable because his girlfriend thinks craters add character. Sail around him to the requested side and fire. The shot blows him apart instead of providing the harmless scratch he expected, and Yooka and Laylee immediately try to pass responsibility to each other. Planette then rises from the sea, demands to know what they have done to her Moonie and announces her revenge. The conversation therefore leads directly into the boss encounter;
Elemental Craters, Meteor Showers and the Final Face Attack
Planette’s original battle starts with her rotating between the stone, ice and magma sectors. Each side initially has two glowing craters, giving six targets across the first rotation. Face the exposed surface with the ship and use the matching weapon: explosive cannonballs break the stone craters, the flamethrower melts the icy ones and the ice shot extinguishes the magma-covered ones. Watch what the active craters fire while lining up an attack. Sailing close enough to land a shot helps against the limited spread of some projectiles, but the magma side’s flame streams require room to steer clear. The vessel can change weapons immediately, so switch with the rotating surface instead of continuing to fire an attack that no longer matches its material. After this first set of targets has been destroyed, Planette sinks until her volcano is the prominent part above the water. This is a meteor-dodging interval: fiery debris falls around the arena and the ship must keep moving through the available gaps. Firing at the submerged body does not replace surviving that barrage. When she rises again, each sector has four craters, doubling the number of surface targets. Repeat the elemental matching while also watching the falling projectiles carried over from the meteor attack. Clearing the craters closest to the ship creates space to aim at the rest, but pausing too long beneath incoming debris can undo that advantage. Another volcanic barrage separates this rotation from the final face stage. Planette then faces the vessel directly and spits volleys of five large rocks across its approach. Steer through the gaps, close the distance during the pause after a volley and shoot a cannonball into her face. Only one damaging hit is available in each opening, so repeatedly firing from the same position does not bypass the next attack. Withdraw or turn into clear water, dodge the following volley and return when she pauses again. Continue until the final hit defeats her. Her farewell accuses the duo of being cruel space pirates and hopes that her debris will scratch their paintwork. Victory awards one Pagie and unlocks the original game’s Planetary Annihilation achievement or trophy.
Malicious Moon in Yooka-Replaylee
Yooka-Replaylee brings Planette back in Galleon Galaxy’s Malicious Moon activity. The remake still uses the D.N.Ray ship, although its preparation follows the revised world layout: collect the Mollycool from the tall central tower with the local Flight Bomb power, take it to Puzz’s shoreline machine and use the ship’s weapons to open the route. Moonie again supplies the encounter’s introduction, and Planette’s anger still follows the disastrous attempt to scratch his back. Her three elemental surfaces remain the central targeting rule. Fire Shot handles ice, Ice Shot handles magma and Cannon Shot handles stone; steer so the bow faces a crater before firing, then change weapons as she exposes another material. A visible boss-health bar makes the battle’s overall progress easier to follow. The remade arena and effects also give the volcanic intervals a different appearance: a large vortex swirls beneath the partially submerged planet, and fiery floating projectiles acquire bright pink halos among the surrounding hazards. Keep watching both the immediate waterway and the space above the vessel while changing position. The more elaborate effects can overlap the craters, so wait for a clear line of fire rather than aiming through the centre of the spectacle. When Planette tips forward in a stunned opening, her face is exposed close to the water. Aim the cannon into it to take a larger portion of her remaining health, then prepare to move as she recovers. Expanding pink rings spread across the surface during the encounter, adding another hazard to the craters and meteors. Leave room to steer away from the central effects instead of remaining beside the planet after firing. Continue matching the elemental targets and taking the exposed-face openings until her health is exhausted. Her new dialogue refers to her Elements of Surprise and to releasing her pent-up anger, extending the same planetary and relationship jokes that run through the original encounter. Defeating her releases three Pagies together, replacing the original one-Pagie payout. These are the boss’s reward, separate from Nimble’s ship race, Tidal Targets and the other sailing activities elsewhere in Galleon Galaxy. The remake’s achievement list uses its own objectives, so Planetary Annihilation belongs to the original game’s reward description rather than being an additional promise for this version.
