Mrs. Squitter is the mother of the two young Squits visiting Spiller’s Harbor in Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge. Their seaside outing has ended in a disagreement: the children refuse to return to the sea until they have received the things they want. Banjo and Kazooie find the crying mother in Spillerston and agree to help. One child needs ice cream from Alfred P. Cock’s van, while the other wants a toy spaceship taken by a Maggie Bird. Satisfying both requests reunites the family, allowing Mrs. Squitter to leave and giving the duo a Jiggy.
The Mother and Her Two Squits
Mrs. Squitter has a brown, piled body with prominent pale eyes and short appendages spreading around the base, matching the Squits’ deliberately unusual design. She identifies herself through her family role, referring to the youngsters as her little Squits. The two children are encountered separately, with different requests and positions around the harbour. Their dialogue uses exaggerated childlike pronunciation, contrasting with their mother’s ordinary speech. Their mother is upset because she cannot persuade them to leave, and Banjo’s response is to offer practical help getting the family back to the sea. Kazooie adds a less sympathetic joke before the task begins, while Mrs. Squitter continues to worry about the delay. The game presents her as a Squit mother rather than assigning her a definite real-world animal species. Comparisons with an octopus or with the similarly named spider Squitter are not an established family relationship or an explanation supplied by her dialogue.
Finding Mrs. Squitter in Spillerston
Look for Mrs. Squitter beside the houses in Spillerston, below the steps leading to Mr. Ripovski’s waterslide counter. Her position also puts her near the town’s arcade and the route towards one of her children. Speak to her to hear about the outing and the treats preventing the family from leaving. The request involves two separate deliveries across Spillerston and the main harbour, so finding a child alone does not resolve it. The youngsters are waiting for specific items rather than being held in cages, and their mother remains the person to revisit when both have been helped. Her reminder that the family has a tube to catch adds urgency to the conversation without placing a countdown on the reunion task.
Ice Cream for the Child on the Boat
The hungry child waits on a boat in the harbour, south of the Mr. Drippy ice cream van. To obtain the requested treat, help Alfred P. Cock, the peacock running the van. Maggie Birds have driven away his customers, and he needs the flock cleared before he can serve the visitors. Use Kazooie’s Rat-a-tat Rap, learned from Bozzeye in Bad Magic Bayou for 210 Musical Notes, to hit the birds when they swoop low enough. Jump with A and press B in the air to perform the attack, continuing until the group around the van is gone. Alfred then gives the duo a Mr. Drippy Cone with raspberry juice. Carry it to the waiting Squit and speak to him to hand it over. With the ice cream supplied, the child agrees to return to his mother. Alfred’s gift completes this part of her request; the family’s Jiggy is awarded later by Mrs. Squitter.
Recovering the Toy Spaceship
The other child waits in Spillerston, a little west of the N. Kreditz Arcade. He had promised his mother he would come straight back after getting a toy spaceship from the machine, but a Maggie Bird took it and left it on top of the arcade, beyond his reach. Approach the machine to the east of the child, dealing with the Whiplashes nearby so that the landing is clear. Use Flap Flip to gain the height needed to reach its roof and collect the spaceship. Kazooie teaches Banjo this move after her rescue in Breegull Beach, without a Musical Note fee; hold L and press A to perform it. Return to the child and speak to him to deliver the toy. Once he has it back, he also leaves to rejoin Mrs. Squitter. Although the toy is on the arcade, this part of the reunion involves climbing onto the machine rather than playing its bonus games. The late-game gold coins used to unlock those games are not a requirement for recovering the spaceship.
Reuniting the Family and Collecting the Jiggy
Return to Mrs. Squitter after the cone and spaceship have both been delivered. From the arcade area, head towards the houses to find her waiting on the left. She is now ready to leave with the children and thanks the duo with a small trinket, which is the Jiggy for completing the reunion. Her farewell changes the encounter from an anxious request into a grateful departure towards the harbour. Kazooie follows with a joke questioning where the reward has been, continuing the humour surrounding the Squits. Collect the Jiggy left behind as Mrs. Squitter goes. Helping just the hungry child or just the child missing a toy leaves the other part unfinished, so the final return to the mother is the conclusion of both deliveries.
The Squits and the Sloppy Squitter Development Note
Rare’s GBA team discussed the Squits in the Scribes column dated 24 December 2003. Asked what the creatures were, the team identified them as a scatological joke and mentioned an earlier mother character name, Sloppy Squitter. The same reply said the mother had not reached the final game. That last comment is difficult to reconcile literally with the released game, which explicitly addresses Mrs. Squitter and contains her request and reward conversation. The surviving statement does not explain whether it referred to an abandoned design, a different planned character or another change during development. It is evidence of the earlier name and the intended joke, but does not establish a complete replacement or renaming history for the Mrs. Squitter encountered in Spillerston.
The Squit Cameo in Banjo-Pilot
A Squit appears among the spectators at the awards ceremony in Banjo-Pilot, giving the creatures a later appearance outside the harbour reunion. References describing the ceremony commonly identify that spectator simply as a Squit, while one account of Mrs. Squitter also attributes a cameo to the mother. The available identification does not securely distinguish her from one of the youngsters, so the family’s appearance should be kept separate from a confirmed return of Mrs. Squitter herself. Her established speaking role remains the Spillerston encounter in Grunty’s Revenge. The ceremony contains no continuation of the ice cream or spaceship deliveries and does not make a Squit one of the playable pilots.
